Honestly I don’t even know whose side to be on here….

I started this video fully prepared to be on his side and somehow by the end I was like “actually I think everyone involved here needs to go sit quietly for a while.”

Like yes, expecting a first date to pay for your mani-pedi is insane. But then he intentionally upgraded the services knowing he was gonna leave her there with the bill??? What are we doing here 😭

This is truly one of the most insane takes I’ve ever seen in my life.

Honestly… this feels like one of those internet takes that sounds profound for 15 seconds until you actually think about it in real life.

Like yes, obviously if someone is constantly disappearing, refusing to parent, never helping at home, etc., that’s a problem. Nobody is arguing that. But between the podcast and people in the comments we’re acting like a man wanting to golf on Saturdays during golf season is inherently irresponsible or evidence he doesn’t care about his family.

What also gets completely ignored in this conversation is that golf is an extremely seasonal hobby depending on where you live. I’m in the Northeast. We are lucky if we get maybe 16 decent weeks a year to consistently play. And even within those weeks, rain wipes out some weekends too. Which makes it for probably 75% of the year, this is not even an issue because the weather literally does not allow for it.

So when people say “your husband shouldn’t be golfing every Saturday,” I’m kind of like… okay, but “every Saturday” is a pretty limited window in a huge part of the country. It’s not a year-round thing for everyone.

And honestly, I don’t understand why people online have gotten so aggressive about the idea that once you get married and have kids, all hobbies and personal time are supposed to disappear. No, I don’t think someone should vanish for 6+ hours every weekend without balance or consideration for their partner. But I also don’t think playing golf on Saturday mornings during a short golf season automatically makes someone a bad spouse or parent.

This feels like one of those conversations where people are projecting bad relationships onto a completely normal hobby.
