Walmart 14.5" Grill - Charcoal Amount?

How much charcoal do you guys use with this thing? I've mainly used a lodge sportsman and a Weber kettle, but the vents on this little guy seems to be undersized, and if I use half a chimney I get a hot grill that dies off with half the charcoals unburnt - do I have too much charcoal in there?

So I already have a 3 quart saute and want a fry pan to complement it with. I know all clad always has the 12 inch fry pan with lid on sale for $149, but I read that the French skillets are also an option?

Thanks
