Some friends and I were hoping to go to Brimham Rocks to watch the partial eclipse, then go for a walk and then watch the Perseid Meteors. Although the plan is somewhat scuppered after learning the car park is only open until "dusk" (when even is that?!).

Does anyone know if/when the gates actually get locked, or is the sign to try and deter overnight camping? And if so, is there an alternative parking location we could use?

I run a social group and generally in the summer we like to have picnic parties where we'll go to a park, bring our own food and have a lovely time. It keeps the costs down and can cater to everyone's food interests.

The problem is the great Yorkshire weather.... Does anyone know of anywhere that lets you bring your own food? We'd happily pay for drinks, bring our own rubbish bags to tidy up after ourselves etc. I'd estimate there'd be 20-25 of us.
