What contributes to Harrogate’s happiness/polite/friendly people?

Time & time again I am very impressed by Harrogate. Service workers, even saying hello/good morning on the street is normal. People smile at each other in the valley garden. Bar staff are very friendly, seem to remember you and a lot of people have good manners.

Anyone else noticed the shift towards pre-loved jewellery lately?

okay so maybe it's just me but has anyone else noticed how differently people talk about pre-loved jewellery now compared to even a few years ago? there used to be this weird stigma around it. like second hand meant lesser somehow and now it's completely flipped, people are actively hunting for it. harrogate feels like a town that gets this.

has anyone else gone down the pre-loved route?

Is anybody on here in the Harrogate area a member of the Harrogate Spa at the Majestic hotel? What is it like?

I've been a member at the Harrogate David Lloyd now since 2021, but now I'm looking at leaving the club as I feel like its now becoming too expensive for what it is (jacuzzi, sauna and steam room breaking down a lot) and the gym area not being the best. I've had a shop around for new gym memberships basically. A colleague of mine has told me that the Majestic hotel is a good place to go for the spa, gym and the pool - and its also right near where I live too. Is it worth the money?

Best place to donate children's toys?

I'm clearing out my attic and have loads of my childhood toys I no longer want to keep. It'll be a shame to take them to the recycling centre.

I plan on taking them to Yorkshire cancer research in Hornbeam park, but is there any where I can donate them so they can be passed onto another child for free?

Afternoon Tea Recommendations

Hi everyone. Its my mums birthday next sunday (17th) and I'm miraculously child free, so I thought it would be the perfect time for us to go have a peaceful afternoon tea together to celebrate. I've been to Mama Doreens before but not for the afternoon tea (which does look incredible) do you think that would be the best place for us to go, or is there somewhere else just as good/better?

Harlow Moor Drive

Hi Everyone,

We are considering the move to Harrogate, and we love the Harlow Moor Drive area. We have noticed an empty property, which I understand was a care home (Avon Lodge), which has since been sold to developers.

Does anyone know if/what the plans for this property would be? Trying to understand if/how it would affect houses in the area (construction/expansion etc!)

Thank you so much for your help!
