Is it silly to consider showing my new dog?

Hey, longtime lurker and occasional dog show watcher. I am looking for some advice, a (kind) reality check, or maybe encouragement?

I have a new puppy who I think is gorgeous, good natured, and a great representation of his breed. I bought him from a breeder who has a few titled dogs. I had no intention of getting a dog for showing, so I did not raise this with the breeder or ask for a specific “show quality” dog. Anyway, that being said, I am intrigued by the idea of showing him. He is 4 months old currently, and he is doing great in puppy training classes. He is AKC registered. I know the general advice that I see on this sub is to talk to folks / go to shows / etc. I’m happy to do that, but I wanted to ask:

  1. If I didn’t discuss this with the breeder prior to buying him do I need their permission to show?
  2. Can folks just “show up” (register) for Conformation shows? Do you need to be a part of certain organizations ahead of time?
  3. Would I have to connect him to a handler or could I do this myself?
  4. Are my questions making it obvious that I know very little? And if so, does that mean that I should let this idea go and just enjoy my little guy without showing him?

Again, be kind. Just a girl with a tiny dream and wondering if I should lean in or lean out. Thank you!

What is our sweet girl likely mixed with?

This is my family member’s good girl. She got her from an Amish farm more than a decade ago. The owners claimed she was an Australian Cattle Dog. This was before that breed got wildly popular, and now that I have other friends who have this breed, I can see the cattle dog traits, but I am convinced that this dog is mixed with something else.

She weighs about 30 pounds, acts like a heeler breed, and is much smaller than our Australian shepherd (who was the runt of the litter and is already small). She’s an excellent, active, tolerant, perfect dog! Her ears are naturally down (I’ve never seen a cattle dog with “down” ears).

Anyway, what are your guesses?

Calming yoga in East?

Howdy pals, I have been in Nashville nearly a decade, but I am a new resident in east Nashville. I would like to get back into yoga, but I am looking for some recommendations.

Does anyone know of a good yoga studio that is calming, doesn’t feel like a Pilates class in disguise, is dim, can be hot/not hot? Edit to add: Vinyasa style flows is preferred.

For context, I was big into hot yoga in the 2010-2017 era. At that time, I felt like I could stop into any yoga studio and get a somewhat consistent experience: a calm class with an instructor who went through the flows with us, the studio was dimly lit, people were packed in and focused. I have tried a few places in Nashville midtown area, and they all have felt like an upbeat motivational workout class (which is cool, but just not the vibe I’m looking for).

This doesn’t feel like normal puppy biting

My 3 month old staffy puppy bites. Hard. I know puppies bite. I know the advice of what to do when they bite (teach bite inhibition, say ow!, remove yourself, redirect with toys, be patient, etc.). But this feels different. My puppy lunges at me. He bites me hard. He has broken the skin on my legs and arms numerous times. It hurts so badly. I am anxious that he is going to hurt someone (or me). I am at a loss for what to do. Every time we go a few days without a hard bite I feel happy, but then it happens again and I feel defeated. This isn’t normal nibbles or mouthiness. It’s lunging and it doesn’t stop when I saw ow or redirect to toys.

My partner has suggested harder bops on the nose or butt, but he will just lunge at my hands if those are close. He does not bite my partner.

I do not know what to do. He’s very good otherwise. He is nearly fully housebroken. He has a good routine. We play a lot and sleep a lot. Did your staffys do this? What do I do?

*that* part of Lightbringer

Holy cow. I just got to *that* part at the end of Lightbringer.

Cassius’s redemption arc was so wildly good. I was selfishly hoping for the same for Lysander. I don’t know that I have ever been so disgusted at a fictional character.

The death happening through Lysander’s POV was torturous.

Bloodydam Bellona. My heart hurts.
