Sterling lock faulty, stop!
Looking for some advice and suggestions on what to do.
Plugged a portable tire inflator into the cabin cigarette lighter in my mk7.5 Gti to pump a bicycle tire. I pushed the button just to turn on the electrical and not start the engine. Upon finishing using the pump for all of five minutes I disconnected, however I am not sure if I forgot to turn off the vehicle. Came back to the car several hours later to find it completely dead.
I jumped the car using a battery pack. When staring the car I got a flashing warning in the dash! “steering lock faulty, Stop!”. The car will shut off completely.
There is no engine cranking or any other functionality outside of being able to lock, unlock the vehicle turn on the radio.
Purchased a new battery, and alas, same issue.
I have checked the fuse behind the small compartment on the left side of the steering wheel. That seems to be intact. Not sure what else to try.
Thanks in advance.
