Married recently husband on h1b , unsure about moving to the US on H4

Recently married and trying to figure out whether moving to the US is actually the right decision for me.

My husband is on H1B and has been working there for 3 years. Recently got his h1B approved so green card process will take 2-3 years. I work in tech in India and honestly the H4 situation makes me nervous because I may not be able to work immediately.

Part of me wants to move so we can finally live together properly, but another part of me is scared of losing career momentum and independence after spending years building it.

Would love to hear from people who went through something similar. Did moving on H4 work out for you?

Married recently and confused between moving to US vs staying in India for career

I’m 29, recently married, and currently in India while my husband lives in the US on H1B. He’s an industrial engineer and has been working there for the last 3 years.

On paper, moving sounds simple. But the reality of the H4 visa honestly scares me a little. From what I understand, I may not be able to work immediately, and as someone who has spent 8 years building a career in tech, the thought of suddenly becoming dependent or taking a long career pause feels overwhelming.

At the same time, long distance after marriage has been emotionally exhausting too. We’re trying to balance career growth, visa limitations, future plans about kids, finances, and just wanting to live together normally as a couple.

Some days I feel like I should move and figure it out together. Other days I wonder if staying in India for a while longer makes more sense for my career and independence.

Would genuinely love to hear from people who went through the H4 transition, long distance after marriage, or the India vs US dilemma. How did you make peace with the decision?
