Unsure if 9month old should be there when we put down our cat

Long story short, this cat is my son's FAVORITE thing in the world. He squeals in happiness and tries to get to this cat no matter what. And this cat, this sweet old man, tolerates it all. We're trying to teach our son "gentle touch" for the kitties, and all of our other cats run away at the sight of our son, whereas this old man just let's our son do whatever to him, including gripping his fur (hence the gentle touch teachings).

Unfortunately, our old man isn't doing so hot, and we're going to be putting him to sleep tomorrow. This post might be a moot point as we might not have anyone to watch our son while we're at the vet, but if we do, I am just unsure if we should have our son there or not. Obviously our son is way too young to even begin to understand death, but this is his buddy. I also know my husband will be devastated (this is his cat from before we were together), so I'm unsure if having our son there will help him with his grief or if it'll make things worse.

I really don't know where else to ask this question, so I'm sorry for the kinda off topic post.

Fridge Hack for 38 hours as a one-off???

Hello! As the title says, I would like to use the fridge hack for 38 hours just once. LO is 6 months old, was born at 38 weeks via scheduled c-section (breech), and has been overall very healthy.

The long and the short of it is is that I didn't get a chance to wash and sterilize my baby buddha parts last night like I normally do every night via bottle washer. I am very fortunate to have a very large capacity, so I only need to pump 3 times a day to be a just-enougher with the ability to freeze one bag every couple of days. So I pumped 8:30am, 1:30pm, and 11pm yesterday, and 7:45am today, and will ideally pump around 12pm and 10pm today as well. At all other times, since the first pump finished, the flanges have either been in the fridge or in a cooler lunchbox with a bunch of icepacks (during work).

Is it okay to use the same flanges for my next 2 pumps today? Even though it'll be about 38 hours since I started the fridge hack by the time my last pump is done? I unfortunately do not have any other flange parts readily available (will be fixing that shortly) so my only other option is to wash the parts while I'm at work and skip my 12pm pump and instead pump immediately when I get home around 6:30pm. Again, this is a one-off emergency use of the fridge hack for longer than 24 hours. If I had to pump more frequently than 3x a day, I absolutely wouldn't do this, but since they'll only warm up a grand total of 5 times by the time they'll be washed and sterilized, I figured it would be okay as some moms use the fridge hack for pumping 8 times in 24 hours.

Thoughts?
