I fear that I may get mesothelioma

I rent a room and part of the vent is coming off. I noticed this when I was annoyed with the smell of vape/weed smell coming from the vent. I started taping the vent to not smell it (no I did not cause this, it was already like this). I notice some dirt eventually appearing on the tape and a big chuck of dust eventually fell out. I ignored this at first, but then I thought about how it's possibly dangerous.

The house is made in late 1800's, but online it said that the last renovation is in early 50's which is where asbestos is popular. I have been living and sleeping around this for multiple months! I wonder if I should test the sand like dirt to see if it has asbestos. I am sos cared that I may develop mesothelioma

I want to make a move on cute waiter

I 29F am a regular at this restaurant and I find the server cute. I like that he is not overly friendly so when he does smile, it feels warm and genuine haha. I want to make a move. I always tip him the most. Ofc I give the other servers a good tip like 20 - 22%, but I always give him a 40% tip haha. I know it's rude to ask for his number while on the clock since it puts him in a awkward situation.

I was thinking maybe writing it on the receipt where I tip him? Will he be able to see it? I fear maybe the hostess or other waiter takes it. I was thinking of writing his name and a little message about wanting to be friends, then my number. If I don't hear back, I will still go there and treat him/tip him the same. I won't ever mention to it again since I want him comfortable at his job.

Still can't get over the lump

Last year I felt a lump. I went to the DR. The Dr. said she felt nodularity, but not a distinct lump. However, that lump felt like it stood out to me. She gave me an order since she wanted to be sure.

The US said I have a mass (that was later biopsied and confirmed to be benign papilloma) in the 12:00 axis. Since the lump I felt was much closer to the 2:00 axis, I assumed they did not find anything and must been nothing.

I was so worry about the biopsy for my papilloma, that I completely forgot about the initial lump. I can still feel it and just feel so anxious. The US report did not say anything else besides the 12:00 axis, so I should be ok? Idk I see too many stories of cancer being missed.

I am seeing a surgeon for my papilloma removal, but I am wondering if she is the right person to bring up the lump that I initially found?

Scared that the sand/dirt like material that's falling may be asbestos?

I live in the United States. I am renting from a house that is over 100 years old. The circular ceiling vent is falling down. My housemates smokes blunts and the smoke has been bothering me. I told her if she can smoke elsewhere, but she still smokes in her room. I got fed up that I started taping the vents so I don't smell it (the smoke comes through the vents and wakes me up)

I later realize one of the vents I have been taping is falling off. Whenever I remove the tape even slightly, brown/clear sand like material falls. It took me a while to realize I may be exposing myself to asbestos since the ceiling is exposed and I have "disturbed" it a few times with my taping. I am moving out soon but been living there for 6 months. I hope I won't get mesothelioma down the line from the possible exposure.

Finally living alone soon, but I am still nervous

I currently dealing with a housemate who smokes weed and vapes. (I asked and she does nothing to stop it, she is also daughter of landlord so I can't win). This made me never want to deal with a roommate again tbh.

I believe I found a studio that I want. I have not sign lease yet, but I am having cold feet. This is not a month to month lease, I am dedicated to stay here for a YEAR! I am scared to possibly deal with a smoker who lives next/above/below me.

Only reviews I seen about smoking was 10 years ago and it was only 3 reviews. There was 1 recent one from 6 mitnhs ago, but the complaint was more about smoking outside the building.

I read the lease, and it states no smoking in COMMON AREAS, and not to have smoke penetrate COMMON AREAS OR NEIGHBORING TENANANTS. It does not say not to smoke in your UNIT, so I am nervous that since it is not a 1000% smoke free place, the place may be a breeding ground for selfish/addicted smokers.

I honestly can't afford a 100000% smoke free building as they tend to be newer buildings and those are more expensive.

I just feel scared because I never signed a year lease before. Like I am risking possible 1 year of carcinogen (if they are cigarette/vape smokers)

I am about to sign a lease for apartment, but I am nervous

I found the apartment with reasonable pricing where I am able to walk to places. The recent reviews are good. I am just nervous because I am EXTREMELY health conscious. I do not want to deal with any second hand smoke. The reason why I am leaving the place I am at is because my housemate who lives next to me smokes weed and vapes and it drove me crazy. She is family member of landlord, and is not renting so ofc I was not able to get her to stop.

I read the lease for this new apartment, and it does not specify not smoking indoors in the rooms, they said you can't smoke in common areas and you can't have smoke bothering neighbors. The most recent reviews are good, with only one complaining about smoking outside the apartment building. The only ones where I see someone complaining about smelling smoke in the units are from 10 years ago, and it was just 3 reviews

I want to go to a 100% smoke free building, but they tend to be newer and much more expensive (I can't afford it). I want to live on my own but my health comes first.

If the first year I do deal with second hand smoke, I will go back to roommates and SCREEN them for smoking. If they said they smoke, but do it outside, it won't be a good match because people are sneaky and can lie about smoking outside. I would have to find someone who is against it to trust them

My phone detected airtag and now I am scared for my life

I walked 5 min to get takeout, then I walked home. When I finished eating my lunch in my room, my phone detected an airtag. What does not make sense is that it was first seen at 9am (I NEVER LEFT MY HOUSE AT THE TIME) Sure one can argue that it was someone near me (the houses are all attached to each other), but on FINDMYIPHONE, the airtag detected me at the place I bought lunch at, when I cross the road to go back home, AND BACK TO HOME! It kept being detected near me home, but stopped refreshing.

I tried turning on sound and it did not work!

It makes no sense because no one was in my room so it is not like someone came in, put a tag in my wallet, while I was AWAKE! No I do not have a car. I am scared because I feel they might come to the house at night and attack me. I think I will be staying at a hotel.

The only way an airtag could be on me is if it was on my clothes or wallet since I LEFT THE HOUSE WITH ONLY THAT AND THE AIRTAG WAS FIRST SEEN AT 9AM (WHEN I WAS IN MY ROOM)

Am I right to just move out and not complain again?

I rented a room from an elderly woman. She has a daughter in her 40's. The lease says it is "generally" a smoke free house and not to smoke. I live on the same floor as her daughter. I smell weed and vape and it bothers me. I have family history of cancers and after seeing many of my family members die before my eyes, I become super careful with what I breathe in and eat. Just smelling it is stressful. Even if I try to put a towel below the door, it seeps through the vent. While the landlord is the mom, I thought it was better to talk to the daughter, so it doesn't look like I am "telling mom on her"

I told her the smoke was bothering me and suggested to use sploof when smoking. Her first response was "No, I am not gonna do all that." Then she said "idk.....I can try smoking closer to my window." She then got a little emotional saying she just been stressed out and gave me this long story about what is going on.

Well the issue has not resolved. People say I should tell my landlord (her mom), but I feel it may just make things worse. I also get very stressed out when I have tension with people who I barely know that I am living with. (I also have no lock on my door). The daughter once walked into my room at 5 am and ran back out saying sorry. I checked my camera in my room, and it looks like she was super high and went into the wrong room???? But yeah that situation really made me not want to cause conflict

I am moving out in about 5 weeks, so I think I should just let it go, but some think I should complain since it is "my right"

Is this apartment building too good to be true?

There is a private landlord called BTT management and they have a few 1 bedrooms for about 1400 in Takoma park. Have any of you guys had any good experiences with it? I visited 3 weeks ago, and it is very spacious for the price (600sqft). I am thinking of moving there. Cost of living is so high, its crazy, so I am wondering if it's worth it.

Need to see if it is worth it since it is not close to many stores and I do not drive. I do not like taking bus often (not near metro)

Am I crazy that I rather spend more on a tiny apartment than risk living with a roommate in luxury apartment?

I saw an ad that a 35F woman is looking for a roommate in luxury apartment for 1250. I visited and it looked AMAZING. The 2 bedroom/bathroom is HUGE. The building also has so much amenities and was the largest apartment I have ever seen (I got lost)! She told me she got it for a good deal because it's considered "old" in their standards

........Then there is a tiny 360 square ft studio apartment for 1550 in an old building (1950's) with the very bare minimum amenities. There is also not an inunit washer/dryer like the luxury one. I would have to go to another floor to do it. I feel crazy spending $300 more for such a downgrade so I can live by myself. I have such mixed luck with roommates that idk if i want to risk it.

I am leaving my current situation because the housemate who owns the house smokes in her room and I can't stand the weed smell. And yes I asked her if she can smoke somewhere else. It's just if I choose the luxury apartment, I will be stuck with her for a year if she turns out crazy or something. The ad posting is still there so I can still take it. I am wondering if I should risk it and spend $300 less for luxury????
