Landlord “confirmed” rental then rented flat to someone else. Any recourse?

We visited a flat and negotiated through an agent. After some back and forth regarding rent, we accepted landlord’s offer by Whatsapp through the agent, and we said we were ready to sign right away (that was a week and a half ago).
We asked the agent to confirm with the landlord that the flat was ours in the meantime, because we would stop viewing other places if so. He replied: “Confirmed” in writing.
We then stopped looking at other flats and continued discussing handover/repairs (there was a tenant still living there). A week later, out of the blue, he messaged to say the landlord had now rented it to someone else.
No tenancy agreement or deposit was signed/paid, so I understand it may not be legally binding, but is this normal in HK? Is there any realistic recourse through the agency/Estate Agents Authority, or possible compensation?

Long term stay extension

For a stay of 7 nights or more, the room rate falls under the ‘Long term stay’ discount.
in general, if I decide to extend after checking in, will the extended nights (say 2) be under the same rate discount or not?

Why Hyatt app’s digital key keeps opening Apple Wallet?

As I understand it, Hyatt currently has two digital-key implementations:

  1. Digit key in the World of Hyatt app
  2. Room Key in Apple Wallet, which appears to be available at only a limited number of Hyatt properties.

My question is about the first one. The Hyatt app’s Digital key works, but whenever I use it, Apple Wallet also opens and shows my default credit card as though I were about to make a payment. The key still unlocks the door, but having Wallet pop up every time is annoying.
I’ve tried both adding and removing the Hyatt room/access key from Apple Wallet, including toggling Express Mode, but the behavior does not change.

Is this a common issue? Has anyone found a way to stop Wallet from opening while using the digital key from Hyatt app?

I will need to be away from HK for 3 months this summer (early Jun till end of Aug). I was wondering how to deal with humidity while I’m away to protect my stuff (canvas, brushes, some clothes, leather)

The studio is about 150-200sqft. It’s in an industrial building with other individual studios. The common areas will have A/C running, but the door of my studio will be closed and I can’t leave A/C running in my own studio 24/7 for too long while not there.

I was thinking first to stop the ventilation running in the studio to avoid having hot humid air from outside going in (which over time would make the studio as humid as outside?).

Then maybe install some plug-in timers for the AC to run intermitently every day?

Would appreciate any advice, I’m a bit concerned given I never had to deal with this situation before and I’m not sure if I’m overthinking.

Thanks!
