Theory: Ball will escape from Meka Base by himself
So at the end of the D.Mon hero trailer, Ball's gets captured by the Meka team, and while it's sad to see our favourite hamster trapped, I think that he's not going to have any problems at all.
Firstly, Ball managed to navigate and escape the Horizon Lunar Colony without much issue. We already have it established that Ball can be quite sneaky and deceptively competent, so it's not too far out of the question that he'll be able to sneak around Meka Base too, albeit that it would be a bit more difficult given it's a military base, and not just a scientific research station.
Secondly, Ball was also using the Junker mech in the trailer. While I wouldn't usually pay too much attention to the cosmetics that a character is shown using in a trailer, I feel like it's worth mentioning as it is a mech literally made out of scrap metal and other junk. It isn't his OW1 or OW2 mech, which are presumably much stronger and much more durable, and most likely, also more expensive. Given that he was using the Junker mech, it seems to me as though Ball knew ahead of time that there'd be a very real chance that he would get caught, so instead of letting himself get captured in one of his "strong" mechs, he decides to go to battle of Busan in a mech that would be fine to get taken/destroyed.
Thirdly, Ball is great at adapting to new situations and building things. With being stuck in Meka Base and having his Junker mech being trapped, I think it's entirely possible that he'd be either:
A) Be able to make a new mech entirely out of spare parts found around Meka Base
B) At least be able to escape Meka Base using his ingenuity
and while he's going around Meka Base, I think it'd make an excellent way for him to finally find out what happened to Winston, given that the two haven't actually met in-lore yet.
Let me know what you guys I think, I honestly think him being trapped at Meka Base won't be a problem for him at all, unless he gets handed the worst case of reverse plot armour.
I hate the rampant misunderstanding of the meaning of Common People
So Common People by Pulp has recently seen a bit of a revitalisation because of a cover done by My Chemical Romance. I don't really care about the cover (it sounds shit, but that's about it) but with it being back in public perception again, it shows just how much of the meaning of the song is just... completely lost on people, and just gets bastardised by them because of it.
The meaning of Common people is about as subtle as a brick attached to a dozen firecrackers. Every verse, chorus, and bridge tells the story of a guy meeting a rich woman who says she wants to "live like common people", with the man telling her that she'll "never live", or "never do what", or "never fail like the common people do".
The man doesn't say any of this without any ground to stand on, she's a student at college from "Greece" (international students, of course, being typically very affluent), "[studies] sculpture at Saint Martin's College) (going into an artistic field is unfortunately not feasible for people of working class backgrounds) "just [laughs]", and when she's asked to pretend that she's "got no money", she just "laughed" (the sheer concept alone of being without money is so alien to her that it's comedic).
He says that she'll "never get it right" when it comes to trying to fit in with common people, that she'll "never understand how it feels to live your life with no meaning or control", and that she'll only ever be "amazed that they exist - and they burn so bright whilst [she] can only wonder why".
He also lambasts her for even TRYING to be like the common people, how she's come from this wealthy background and now trying to be cool, saying that "everybody hates a tourist - especially one who thinks it's all just a laugh".
Lyrical analysis aside, the ENTIRE song is about this general idea of that 'common people' are honest and authentic, and people who are rich will never truly understand, no matter how hard they try to fit in, as their lives are just simply too different to be anything more than just a tourist to the culture.
It's not exactly a hard song to analyse and understand the meaning of. If you've ever heard the song in your life while being older than the age of 5, I'm sure you've been able to catch the general jist of "rich people will try and fit in with working class people, but they just can't".
However, with the song becoming popular again with the cover done by My Chemical Romance, people have managed to completely misunderstand the song in the most egregious way possible. I expect nothing of people when it comes to literacy, but yet I am consistently disappointed.
Now, there are dozens of posts on social media (Tik Tok, primarily), of people using the MCR cover of the song saying about how it's GOOD that they're not like the "common people", with "common people" now meaning "non-alternative in style".
I have no idea how the meaning of a song can be butchered so fucking hard. A proudly working class British anthem DEFINED by it's contempt for those of upper classes trying to be "one of them", has become "I'm not like other people, I'm so quirky".
It's a spit in the face of everything the original song stands for, and is an incredible testament to how people will ignore who media is ACTUALLY about before making it about themselves, and making themselves look like absolute jackasses in the process.
TL;DR: British song making fun of people who pretend to be working class has been hijacked by an American band, and people can't understand the potentially the most on-the-nose lyrics ever so they can boast about being quirky.
You still can't buy Lucioball from hero gallery btw lol
Fun Fact: Some of Ball's OW1 skins have incorrectly baked lighting.
(Pictures are of Overwatch 1 Default, 8 Ball, Submarine, and Atlanta Reign Classic skins)
You can see that on the Submarine and Atlanta Reign skins, certain areas of the fur and his paws get less lighting applied to them compared to OW1 and 8 Ball. (It's most noticable on the cheeks, the section of the head where the cheeks and the ears meet, the nose bridge, the inside of the ears, if you're having problems spotting it)
When the lighting engine was upgraded for OW2, I assume that the baked lighting (the lighting built into the texures themselves) for heroes and their skins were also updated to match the new lighting direction the game was going with. However, some skins (Submarine + OW1 esports + probably some others), seem to have been missed with the updates to baked lighting, leading to their skins looking much darker compared to others.
