my take on the wasian meetup

I am wasian however my asian parent was adopted so besides my asian parent, the rest of my family is white. I’m not necessarily engaged with my asian culture but I don’t understand the argument people are saying that it makes me white-centric?

Even though I’m not connected to my asian culture, that doesn’t mean that being half asian isn’t apart of my identity. I’ve been subject to racism (one instance a group of girls surrounded me and played “ching chong salon”). I think this is a continuing pattern of people grouping eastern asians as white, denying all the struggle and connection that exists among east asian Americans.

I don’t think that the ideas around colorism in the asian community and racism between asian and black people are invalid, but I just don’t understand what these conversations have to do with wasians specifically?

This discourse reminds me of the concepts explored in Interior Chinatown written by Charles Yu. Does anyone have a different perspective on this?

new to christianity

i’m an atheist but I want to learn more about christianity and it’s relation to america’s history. I feel like there are many ways christian ideals have bleed into our current social culture but I don’t have enough knowledge about christianity to fully understand this concept.
where should I start to learn about the history/practices of christianity? is it worth it to read the bible? What sources are the most reliable to learn about christianity (w/o western bias ect)
