Knots?

Long time fisherman just getting into fly fishing. I’ve always done a variation of the clinch knot. What are the best knots to know for fly fishing?

There’s no excuse not to take lessons if you want to improve

I’m a total beginner at 35 (maybe 15 games of golf in my entire life), and even for a beginner I’m really bad. I have started taking lessons and it’s a night and day difference. There is so much about hitting a ball that is not natural to me at all. I honestly don’t understand how someone could ever expect to start playing without getting some instruction first. Without an instructor, I wouldn’t even know what to correct.

Lessons take time and money, but golf takes time and money regardless. The only legitimate excuse is that 1. You legitimately don’t care about getting better or 2. You don’t live in an area that has an instructor nearby

Edit: Obviously this is from a pure beginner perspective and my wording should have reflected that. The better you get, the harder it’s going to be to get better with an instructor. But I don’t understand the mentality that “I’m just going to go put reps in and figure it out as I go.” How can you improve if you don’t even know what you’re doing wrong?

Does it ever make sense to research with the Great Library?

I am playing an emperor standard sized arch game with the Vikings. I was able to keep the tech lead by trading until I got the Great Library, at which point I turned off research completely. I have since destroyed my island neighbors America and taken the whole next island over, leaving England and Persia extremely weak. Meanwhile, Zulu destroyed China and France has mostly taken over Byzantine.

France is now my largest rival and in the tech lead by far. When I look at their tech's available to trade to me, I see Printing Press, Education, and Engineering, but who knows what else they have. Invention? Gunpowder?

I'm building a bunch of archers and hording gold in anticipation of upgrading all of them to Berserks, so I don't think I'll have a problem taking them down once I finally get Invention, but it's killing me watching them run away with the tech lead.

Does it ever make sense to start investing in research with the GL when there's a single civ that's far outstripping everyone else?

Edit: I used espionage and learned that they're building Magellan's Voyage, meaning that they have Navigation already!

Issue with 3 related fact tables

I have a report that displays results from inventory counts. I have 2 main fact tables, Counts and Inventory, and they're related by ProductID, Date, Location, and Bin. I don't have a separate ProductID table, so I made one in Power Query by taking all possible values of ProductID in both the fact tables. Therefore, I have 2 fact tables and 4 dimensions. I am able to display all of this in a table visual without problems.

I have a 3rd fact table that is comments about the table. It has nullable foreign key columns that are the primary keys of both the inventory table and the count table. First, I tried relating the comments directly to both the other fact tables, but that creates issues with multiple relationships. Then, I used Power Query to pull in the dimensions to the comments table. When I try to add the comments to the table visual, I get weird behavior where it displays all the comments but all the other columns (dimensions and facts) are the same value repeated over and over. ChatGPT suggested using a measure on the comments using ConcatenateX, but that concatenated EVERY comment into a single value. It's as if the row context isn't being set correctly for the comments. Anyone know why this is happening? Is there another measure I should use to pull in only the comment that relates to the dimensions in the row?

At this point, my best guess is that it's getting messed up because of how I'm using relationships to create other relationships in Power Query, but I'm not sure. Perhaps if I had the right measure for pulling in the comments it would work correctly.

Did I get a good deal on this snare drum?

I'm in the process of replacing my 8 yo son's starter kit by buying used pieces on FB marketplace. I found this snare and offered $80. I feel like I got a good deal, but I really don't know anything about drums.

Edit: Thank you all for the feedback!
