Penn ED Pros vs Cons (seeking advice)

I am debating between EDing and not EDing to Penn. With my background, I think I have a fair shot, but it is definitely far from guaranteed. I have heard Penn in particular gives more of a boost for ED than most other schools.

My main dilemma basically boils down to FOMO. If I apply RD and get rejected, I am going to regret not EDing because maybe that would've made the difference. And if I get accepted to Penn ED, then my application was strong enough that maybe I get a hefty scholarship at a different T14, or maybe I even get into HLS/YLS (ultra low odds, but like crazier things have happened, and most of my family and friends are telling me to shoot YLS an application because "you never know").

Basically, unless I'm rejected ED from Penn or accepted RD to Penn, I feel like I am gonna have crazy FOMO/regret.

Any advice?

(Stats: 3.8 from a T25 Undergrad/ 176 LSAT / KJD / T3 Softs (first-gen, low-income) / 3 internships (2 legal) / Good but not insane campus involvement and research / honors thesis in progress)

How to push past misreads?

I'll go straight to my question first: I finished the loophole, and now I am doing PTs and sections (LR and RC) with Camo review. I am down to averaging like -0.5 on conceptual gaps, but I am still getting an average of about -2.6 (2-4) on misreads. The misreads have no common denominator like question type, stimulus type, section type, etc.

Obviously, things like energy levels, if I just ate before, if I have a bunch of homework that day, etc have a correlation here, but aside from eliminating those issues, how do I reduce misreads? My wrong answer journal solutions are starting to just be me writing "lock in" and "read closer."

I am taking the September LSAT, so I have 3 weeks of lots of prep time left (and like 2 weeks of less time as I will be busier right before the actual test.

--------

As a side note, I just wanted to express the most immense gratitude for The Loophole. 4/5 weeks of going through the book front to back and treating every word like gospel got me from a 162 diagnostic to a 171 PT, and a week of Camo later I got a 177 PT, and my post-Camo corrected practice sections are averaging 180; this has had such an amazing impact for me, thank you so much!

How much does ED and/or In-state help?

Basically just the title. I know for absolute certain that the only school I have interest in is my flagship state school (UGA), because of numerous factors, the largest being cost (low costs since I am in-state and a 25% discount for being first-gen), but there are also various other reasons that make me firm in this choice.

My GPA is between the 25th and 50th percentiles, and I am applying KJD. Still studying for the September LSAT. Obviously, I know my LSAT score will be the primary determinant of my admissions success, and my LORs (quite solid) will likely have even more impact than either of those factors.

Can anyone maybe contextualize what being in-state and what applying early decision may do for my application? Will it help me at all? Or is the difference negligible?

Many questions as a foreigner coming for 2 months

Здравствуйте! I will be living with a host family in Almaty for 2 months as part of a russian language immersion program. I have a bunch of questions:

  1. How do I navigate the bus system? I’ve tried like 20 apps and they all confuse the hell out of me, google maps not showing the bus routes makes this trickier than other places i’ve been.
  2. How good are bike lanes//is it a bike friendly city?
  3. Is there any other advice people may have for me to avoid walking? I have a medical condition that makes walking in the heat very painful and sometimes debilitating (hence my bus and bike questions)
  4. Do people wear flip flops here, or will I be looked at as strange for doing so?
  5. To what extent is bargaining for prices (assuming it’s not written down anywhere) acceptable? I don’t want to come off as rude or insensitive, but I also do not want to get ripped off.
  6. Given Q5, how can I tell what an acceptable price is? How can i develop a reference point to know what is good, pricy, cheap, a rip off, etc? or is this level of competency unrealistic for 2 months?
  7. Where is a good place to get Tenge? My local banks in the US don’t carry it, but idk if i’m gonna get scammed with the airport ATMs.
  8. What are the biggest tourist traps to avoid?
  9. Is it true that the taxis may try to scam foreigners?
  10. Given the current de-russification process happening in KZ and the movements to reclaim a Kazakh identity (which i totally understand and support), will I be judged a lot for speaking exclusively in russian/english?
  11. How serious is buying beer/cigarettes? I am 20, not 21, but I look 23-25 according to most. Not gonna use a fake ID because that seems to risky to me given this is a country i’ve never been to before, but would I still be able to purchase these things without issue? (i rarely get carded in the U.S. anymore)
  12. Any further advice for someone who is super excited to visit Almaty but is a bit clueless going in?
