engineering department

Hi guys,
Does anyone know if the department is open? Could I drive up and talk to someone there if I have an important question or if they’re still closed? I’d email but i’d worry I wouldn’t get the response in time.

major change

how hard is it to switch from undeclared to mechanical engineering? i had some people tell me it’s not hard, but just saw someone say they had a 3.8 from another eng major to mechanical engineering get denied.

i only ask because if it’s truly that difficult, i think i will sign up for ccc to guarantee my major.

any insight would be rlly appreciated!!

mech eng

hii
i was wondering how difficult ** (by difficult, i mean is it even possible? or is it so impacted that it’s not even worth it) switching into mech eng from a non engineering major would be?

i’m currently committed to uci, but i realized im passionate about engineering. i don’t necessarily mind ccc (but it’s rather late now and classes are filled up) and i heard ccc for engineering is a long process. but i understand that may be my only option.

i’ve tried reaching out to the school, but no help. i’m really trying to figure out if this is possible before i pay $500 to attend SPOP.

is a switch to mech eng possible? or is it too difficult to even try?

thank you!!

uci or ccc

hi guys!
i’m debating on going to uci or doing ccc and transferring.
i’m just not sure how i feel about the campus or the life. i really wanted to go to ucsd because it’s so close to home but i was waitlisted.

i’m doing mech eng (id have to internally transfer uci) and the acceptances rate for the last cycle seem low for mech eng.

also,
no one at my local cc has enrolled at ucsd for mech eng in the last few years.

i don’t think im ready to go away from home for some reason. i dont think im happy with uci. i feel like im settling. i got into ucb but i was given a scholarship by uci and ucb was too expensive. but now i dont know if i can settle for a mid tier uc like uci.

i just need anyone’s advice.
uci is not that expensive only about 11k a year.

uci bio to mech? or cc to mech?

im a current incoming first year at uci for bio. i want to do mechanical engineering… how hard is to do to cc—> transfer to a uc or should i try switching internally? I just hear it is very difficult to get in as a transfer for mech engineering

ucb or uci

for context,
i got a full ride regents to uci
ucb would be $30k a year
both for bio majors, and i plan on attending med school. i’m thinking of uci (would graduate debt free) but am worried about wasting the “name” of berkeley
any help would be helpful!
