Would this moss be safe for a enclosure?

Would this moss be safe for a enclosure?

I already have a bunch of it I use for my isopods (it’s plagiothecium) so I’m wondering if it’s fine for the upgraded enclose of my velvet spider.

i will buy sphagnum moss if needed but I wouldnt really have much use for it otherwise and it’s always so much

Hunger behavior or no?

my 4th molt sling is after a day/day and a half now frequently waiting outside of its little web and after I just few it it usually stays hidden for a few hours. is the fella just really hungry? I don’t want to overfeed it but I also don’t want the fella to be hungry.

im currently feeding it a hydei fruitfly every 3 days (so 2 days between feeding) I did give it a extra one the day after last feeding because it was waiting like that and it immediately went for the fruitfly

Tips for sterilizing soil/substrate

unfortunately some of the substrate I bought was not sterilized and most definitely came directly from a forest. So now there are a bunch of tiny critters and potentially harmful bacteria in the soil. It’s too much to throw it away as it already has been mixed with a base substrat, flake soil and white rot wood.

its very unfortunate for the potential critters in the soil but I don’t want to harm the isopods (I already got a surprise species that got brought along)

does anyone got some tips on sterilizing/disinfecting small batches of soil? Oven is a bit hard as I only have one tub for the substrate and I don’t really want to have another or dirty the oven with substrate when I inevitably spill some

Oh good lord my emerald cockroach has babies

I bought a breeding set of 3 girls and 2 guys may 17th and now I got babies.

i was being worried why they were all huddled up there and not moving but I certainly hadn’t expected this so soon. guess I gotta extra extra babyproof the opening clip of the enclosure

this seems like a lot of babies for her size though??? Girl how did you fit all that in you

Hitchhikers, better video?

possibly a clearer vid of the hitchhikers

these are still very much babies, I discovered them as mancae about roughly 2 weeks ago

Anyone know who these little hitchhikers are?

found these little hitchhikers a while ago (since then seperated) but they were far too small to properly see. they’re still rather small. there are quite a lot of them and they’re very fast moving. they like to stay clustered under the bark but also seem to dig into the dirt.

Enclosure size help

hello I’m planning on getting a velvet spider soonish, Eresus moravicus to be exact. the lil guy will be on its third molt. what size of container/enclosure will it need? because if I search I keep getting jumping spider related things.

from that store (only one where those are available) I either have the choice of 175(or smaller)ml rearing tints and then it jumps to 10x10

if necessary I’ll spend the extra shipping for a bin somewhere else but they’re rather hard to find here

Do bumble bee milipedes like climbing?

Im planning on getting a few bumble bee milipedes soon but im not sure about the height of the enclosure. easier to get bins here would be 29x39cm withthe height is either 16 or 26cm. I’ll be putting twigs and cork into the bin either way but I’d like to know if they like to climb higher.*

Later I discovered even more on it so save to say they quite seem to like it.

I think they might like the new (isopod) pellets I bought them but not to sure….🧐🧐🧐

(more leaf litter is coming today or tomorrow)
