Should I Return This?

Hey Folks,

I actually posted about a week or two ago about how amped I was about the 2025+ that I wanted to get the 2025 Ultra because I am IN on this form factor.

I had picked up an open box plus on eBay and was blown away by the price and condition!

I found a great price on an "excellent condition" 2025 Ultra and as soon as I unboxed it I didn't feel great but wasn't sure I was grounded in reality. I've generally had great experiences buying used devices where oftentimes people under rate the condition (I do the same, where I just sold a device as good that kind of matches the quality of this ultra).

This device was grimy, lots of stuff around the screen protector and in the top grill which I tried gently cleaning as best I could (excellent condition? C'mon!). There's something along the edge of the outer screen (picture 4 has best view of it) that I am looking for feedback on too. Seller offers no questions asked returns so I don't want to waste anyone's time or money so wanted to check with the resident razr experts here.

Now it seems like these devices struggle with heat and throttling but this device is HOT and struggles with wireless Android Auto where the plus was smooth as butter. Otherwise device seems great but longevity is huge for me with the foldable and I want to care for it well.

Any thoughts are welcome including if I'm off base. Thank you!

EDIT: Thank you everyone. This sub is kind of awesome, I appreciate all the feedback! Return request submitted and back to the Razr 2025 Plus!

I have been chosen for double pulls

I have ripped into 3 total boxes of 2023 Big League Baseball. I pulled an unnumbered Garrett Mitchell from box number 2. This was a while back, but had picked up box 3 from the same LCS at the same time.

Ripped a few packs tonight with the wife and I thought hmmm, the guaranteed holo parallels were seeming very familiar but whatever. I rip one more and I pull another Garrett Mitchel, this time numbered to /50.

I guess I now PC Garrett Mitchell, Endy Azocar, AND Orelvis Martinez. The power of notable pairs.

Pleasantly Surprised

I have been rocking large devices for a while, to the detriment of everything. The Pixel Pro (now Pro XL) series is so incredibly heavy and I don't want to use the device!

I had been using the OnePlus 12R and had initially loved it, but at some point the updates quietly cooked it. Apps weren't working right and I just couldn't type on the damn thing. Nothing really worked right and after the latest update I admitted defeat. I needed to try something new and not return to one of the million devices sitting in my drawer.

As usual, an impulsive thought led into a furious commitment: I had to find a razr plus on the cheap. I don't know if power user is the right term, but I'm the kind of redditor that needs a moderately powerful device at baseline but I make a modest salary and what can I say this is 2026 who can afford frivolous device spending?

I had tried the Moto Edge 2024 and I loved the feel, size, shape, curvature, and tender backplate. The camera sucked. And the chipset mirrored my cognitive performance during the pandemic.

I scored the Moto Edge+ 2023 from Boost for probably what cost me my soul for how cheap it was. Not quite the feel of the base edge 2024, but had enough juice with squeezing performance wise. Alas, the camera quality was a deal breaker.

Back to the Pixel I guess. Jk, back to OnePlus. And on I've cycled.

Good deals and longevity. I once proudly proclaimed I had never broken a phone until I did and immediately broke my old lg g8 I was running careless.

TL;DR

The point: I scored an "open box" excellent Razr 2025 plus off eBay for $340 (with 50 off by opening a PayPal credit card) and it's kind of amazing. The weight is perfect. The feel of the phone, open or shut is just right. The performance is SMOOTH and while the camera is meh, it's passable for now, although this sentiment may change if/when the honeymoon phase is over. I took some family photos this past weekend and the fam said I always take the best pics after they saw the shots(remember I was a pixel guy).

Also, the battery life is abhorrent and I've already considered selling this to fund a razr ultra for that sweet 700mAh of charged nectar.I'm using this device caseless and understand the greater risk with this phone.

Otherwise, everything works as intended after a quick delay. My only gripe is the A16 update that cooked using wireless Android Auto while it's closed.

Texting is a breeze. Closing the device is satisfying as fuck.

If this crease/screen hold up for long enough I will be firmly entrenched in the foldable camp. I'm very impressed with what Motorola has done in recent years AND with a little bit of pep in the midrange step. 12gb of ram is the absolute floor in 2026.
