Erica will be here this afternoon for a special event to celebrate 10 years since she won an Olympic Gold Medal in Rio in wrestling. The third edition of the Welcome to Stittsville Newcomer’s Guide is available now! We’ve expanded the booklet to 36 pages, full of information on topics such as housing, healthcare, education, employment, city services, and more.

It’s designed to help people who are new to Stittsville during their first few days, weeks, and months in our community. Whether you’re moving from another country, another province, or even from another neighbourhood in Ottawa, this guide will help you get started.

Good morning! Today I’m at the stormwater pond between Boulonnais Grove and Paseana Place, and Terry Fox Drive (stormwater facility #1353). Stormwater ponds play a major role in flood control during major rain storms like the one we saw on July 1. This pond provides overflow capacity for the surrounding neighbourhood, and outlets via the Monaghan Drain to the Jock River and eventually the Rideau River.
