What do young, single adults want to do for fun in Springfield?
Surely it's recognized by others in this sub that people are consistently asking what to do to find friends, relationships, entertainment in a social setting, etc.
There's a term for this ask: Third places.
(Wiki) - In sociology, a third place is a social space separate from the two usual social environments of home ("first place") and workplace ("second place"). Examples of third places include churches, cafes, bars, clubs, libraries, gyms, bookstores, hackerspaces, parks, and theaters.
Springfield has these things now. Some are used. Some are not. Some tried new ideas that weren't supported to make them economically viable.
Almost all third places exist with operating costs like rent, utilities, insurances, labor, etc.
So what is it that 20-30 year olds want to do that they are willing to pay for that would make a third place viable?
There are real challenges to finding an answer. The economy sucks. Young people drink less than previous generations. Marijuana is legal. Online culture (social media and video games).
I promise this is a question with genuine intent to find answers and I hope people comment with that same open-mindedness and respect.
What do people want to do and how can something realistically exist to meet the needs of those intetests?
