When you hit your daily max loss, what do you actually do?

In my honest experience when I hit my max loss I have an overwhelming urge to continue trading. Unsure if it's due to the pain of being wrong or lack of discipline.

I have tried various different approaches, meditating, journaling and even hard limits that I cannot override. Only the hard limits have genuinely worked."

Curious what everyone else genuinely does, not what you plan to do.

  1. Stop for the day, every time
  2. Stop most days, but sometimes push on
  3. Take "one more" to win it back
  4. Keep trading until I'm way past it
  5. I don't have a daily max loss

Reply with your number, and what actually works for you (if anything).

I built a tool that locks me out when I break my own trading rules — looking for traders to test it free for a month

Note: the r/PropFirms mods have allowed this thread for beta testing purposes only. The subreddit is not endorsing the product.

I'd tell myself the same story every week. Every fresh deposit. Every new prop firm challenge. "This time it will be different, I'll just stick to my rules." Wrong.

It all seems easy when you're nice and calm, writing your trading plan the night before: I'll risk £100 per trade, I'll stop if I'm down £300, I'll only take three trades.

So why, when that moment comes, does all rational thinking go out of the window? You find yourself down 3x your max loss and 20 trades in.

Emotion.

After 6 years of failing, I built a solution that holds me to my plan: Oath.

I built Oath for myself, to hold me accountable: someone to talk my struggles through with, and real-time feedback in the heat of the moment.

It doesn't just give me feedback on my emotions and the rules I'm prone to breaking. It enforces those rules when I need it. Max daily loss £200? 3 trades a day? A 10-minute break every hour? Then that's what Oath enforces: when you hit a limit, it closes your trades and blocks new ones for the rest of the day. No more "just one more trade".

Oath is a trading companion, journal, rule enforcer and more. It connects to MetaTrader 5, cTrader or NinjaTrader 8 accounts, live or demo, including selected prop firms (more coming soon).

Don't use those platforms? You can use Oath as a trading coach instead: talk to it, tell it your struggles and get live feedback.

I'm looking for a small group of traders who struggle with emotion and sticking to their plan to beta test Oath while it's in beta. It's completely free for the first month.

If you're interested, sign up at app.tradewithoath.com and enter the code OATHBETA at checkout for your free first month (until 31 October). After that it's £29/month, and you can cancel any time.

Happy to answer any questions here or by private message.

Happy trading!

Name of these songs from Tomorrowland?

I’ve just got back from weekend 2 at TML. Trying to find these songs, two from james hype and one from fisher’s set. Any ideas? Can’t seem to find them on Shazam. Thanks!
