Televison Help
Hey everyone, looking for some help with an older Zenith CRT TV.
I recently picked up a 1995 Zenith SR2504BT (Service No. SR2504BT8). The TV works, but I’m having trouble accessing the composite/RCA input without the original remote.
The TV has yellow/red/white RCA inputs on the back, and I’ve been trying to hook up my Nintendo 64. The front panel has Channel Up/Down, Volume, Menu, Select, Adjust and Enter. The menus cycle through Setup, Audio and Video, but I cannot find an AUX/Input/Source option anywhere.
The biggest oddity is that the TV seems stuck on Channel 2. Channel Up/Down won’t go past it. I’ve tried:
- Setup menu
- CH Add/Delete
- Auto Program
- Different Tuning Band settings (Broadcast, CATV, HRC, IRC)
- Cycling through the Video/Audio/Setup menus
- Channel Up/Down repeatedly
- Power cycling/unplugging the TV
I also confirmed from the original manual that this TV uses the Zenith MBR3445 remote. I’m trying to find one, but they’re difficult/expensive to get shipped to Canada.
As a workaround, I tried an old N64 RFU adapter using coax and Channel 3/4. The TV reacts when the N64 is powered on—the normal static/no-signal changes to a black screen—but I still don’t get an actual picture.
My eventual goal is also to hook up a Roku, probably using HDMI-to-RCA or HDMI-to-RF conversion.
So my main questions are:
- Is there actually a way to select AUX/Video on a Zenith SR2504/SR2504BT using only the front-panel controls?
- Is there a hidden menu/button combination or reset that restores AUX to the Channel Up/Down sequence?
- Has anyone successfully used a universal remote to access AUX on one of these mid-90s Zenith Sentry TVs?
- If I give up on AUX, what RF modulator would you recommend for both an N64 and eventually a Roku?
I’d really like to keep this old Zenith going instead of giving up on it. Any experience with this exact model or similar mid-90s Zenith CRTs would be greatly appreciated.
