social security phone representative states i have never reported wages

UPDATE: i am leaving this post up in case the information is somehow helpful, but immediately after posting this, i called again to speak to a different representative, who assured me that i had reported my wages correctly, and the previous representative was confused. there is no longer an issue. i guess the lesson is, don’t be afraid to question clearly incorrect info haha

hello all. i am 23 and have been a recipient of disability for a couple years. last year, i began to get better, and was able to get a remote job. i called the social security line to ask what i needed to do next, and they explained how to report my wages on the portal. they also explained what a work trial period is, and how it works. the person on the phone helped me through the process, and requested information about my employer, supervisor, job title, etc. i provided all of the information, and the person on the phone told me that once my trial period ends, i may not hear right away about a change in benefits, so i should contact them about it if nothing had changed to avoid an overpayment. after finishing on the phone, i reported my wages through the portal as well, with my paystubs and employer info.

i reported everything when filing my taxes as normal. nothing about my pay rate changed until last month. i reported my new rate paystub as soon as i got it, and waited a week or two, still never saw any change in my benefits. i was paid again as normal today, so i decided to call them to verify they were aware that they were likely overpaying me, as my work trial period is over. the representative kept me on the phone for 1.5 hours, where she informed me that no wages had been reported at all. she was quite disrespectful as well, interrupting and raising her voice.

i described to her exactly what had happened, and that i could see on my portal that my employer was in fact under the wage reporting section. i explained the previous phone call i had as well. i verified that calls are recorded so there should be evidence of it, and she said that yes, they are. the call ended with her re-reporting said wages, back into last year.

my question is, am i on the hook in some way? i know i reported wages multiple ways, but she states it is not at all visible on her end. i reported through the portal every time my wages changed (as is stated to be required for disability), over the phone when i got the new job (and i guess today), by providing them employer information and my employer reporting directly to them (verified by the woman on the phone, even though she said beforehand that i never provided them that permission), and through filing my taxes which, i know is not a direct way of reporting, but wanted to include. am i going to get in some kind of trouble if she was right and my wages somehow were not reported? i truly do not understand how this has happened, and am so afraid i will be in some sort of trouble. thank you in advance

tube came out ~3 inches

well, this is the third post i’ve made about my tube in recent days. sorry about that lol, i’m having an unlucky streak. recently, i developed an abscess right up next to my stoma- i went to my doctor about this, who told me it was fine (spoiler: it wasn’t). while there, i mentioned that i was having extra pain around my tube, and that it seemed like it was looser than normal, and felt like it could come out very easily. she told me that was fine as well, and that it seemed secured still.

i ended up in the ER a few days ago, as what i thought was an abscess most definitely was, and ended up bursting. got antibiotics, nice, probably all good.

fast forward to tonight, my tube came out about 3ish inches. i’m guessing because, in a panic when i saw, i pushed it back in. it hurt, but not terribly. it doesn’t seem to be falling back out right now at least, but i am sure after it pulling out that far, it likely is not positioned correctly anymore. it is not leaking around the stoma at the moment, which seems promising.

there seem to be very limited posts about this sort of situation, so here i am! obviously i know i need to see my doctor but, as mentioned in a previous post, my doctor is next to impossible to get ahold of most times, especially with any urgency. i know going to the ER is an option, but none in my area have the tools to repair this, so i would end up admitted while they order one in, which could take some time. i need to work, so would like to avoid that if not absolutely necessary (which, since the tract is still maintained, seems like it isn’t currently necessary).

sort of a vent, sort of asking for more advice (which, once again, so sorry i have posted so many times recently). since it’s still in, is this seriously an emergency that would warrant me going and being admitted for likely at least a week, or could i just try to get ahold of my surgeon to have it looked at asap? i can take a little by mouth, likely enough to get me through until then, assuming they can see me pretty soon. is there any chance at all it’s still placed correctly, and can i safely check somehow?

once again, thanks so much in advance. TLDR: tube came out 3ish inches. pushed back in in a panic, and seems fine, but i’m sure it isn’t. looking for opinions on next steps.

bump next to tube site

hello all! to start, i am not at all asking for medical advice. i am just looking for the opinions of others with tubes/what you would do in this situation. i know generally, it is smart to just ask your doctor, but my doctor is the only one in the area who works with my condition/type of tube, and his office is just the worst- next to impossible to get ahold of anyone or get an appointment with him, which leads me into why im making this post- im curious if this is something worth getting to my doctor. i have a red bump right next to my tube site, about the size of maybe a large pimple, but hard and completely under the skin. it does hurt, not severely, and it is red. is this something you would consider concerning/signs of infection and try to get to a doctor, or has anyone experienced this and it was nothing? i try not to worry too heavily, but i know it is smart to be cautions when you have any extra path added into your body lol. thank you!

Response to Rule Concerns

Hello all,

As I am sure you all know, there has recently been some disagreement on how best to handle the matter of reassurance seeking. Through comments, posts, and at times PMs, we have heard your concerns. We as the mods have all at some point been where you are, where it feels like sometimes all you need is reassurance, through the guise of comfort. The more you receive it, the more it can be difficult to calm down and think rationally without it, and we all fully understand that. If you are relatively new to the sub, you may be surprised to hear that this sub actually used to lean too far in the opposite direction (constant false reassurance, sharing of what foods are safe and which are not, sharing unhealthy coping mechanisms and safety behaviors, etc.) and a significant number of peoples’ phobias became worse for it.

Whether you are in recovery or not, reassurance is harmful. We are absolutely not forcing anyone into recovery, and in no way telling you how to live your life- all we are doing is ensuring that harmful behaviors have no place here, on THIS sub. It remains that we will continue to keep actively harmful behavior out of the subreddit, and if you do not agree with that decision and are not open to mature communication and working together to better the sub, we encourage you to consider other subs for your posts.

All of that being said, a recent grievance post was made to the subreddit about these concerns. Some of the comments, along with some messages we have received privately, are in no way a constructive way to share your concerns or disagreements regarding something. Being unkind will get none of us anywhere. However, we saw one comment in particular stating that we have not given a genuine, true response to these concerns. While we have given genuine responses through comments and PMs, we understand that is not easily visible to everyone, which prompts this post.

If you have concerns that you would like to discuss respectfully, or suggestions for how we can best make this sub feel welcoming while maintaining the discontinuation of encouraging or participating in harmful behavior, we would like to see your comments here. This post will be pinned, for future reference and ease of viewing for all users. Your suggestions will be genuinely read, and replied to (so long as you aren’t a troll, or so long as there aren’t so many that some are missed). If suggestions come to light that we and you all feel could make the sub a better place, then they can be implemented moving forward.

Ideally, we can keep the communication about this to PMs or this pinned post, to avoid muddying the sub with the same thing over and over, or arguments beneath unrelated posts. Moving forward, if comments that disagree with these rules are rude towards the moderators, including namecalling, disrespectful language, falsely accusing the mods of saying things we did not say, or anything related to those, they will be removed under Rule 1. We aim to be civil and understanding in our interactions, and we ask the same. Thank you in advance for your respectful comments; we look forward to hearing from you.

how much draining is too much?

hi all! i have had a GJ tube for a bit under a year now due to my GP. i used to drain very infrequently as i was hardly eating by mouth at all, but in recent weeks/months i drain a bit more often, as i am back to eating semi-regularly, even if small. i would say i generally drain once to twice a day, and not a full drain (like using a syringe or bag)- basically just opening it over the toilet and letting whatever comes out come out. more often than not, its right when i wake up to get rid of the leftover food and acid buildup from the day before.

i wasn’t concerned about this, but saw a post on this sub the other day that someone sadly ended up in hospital from draining too much. i did not even know this was a concern honestly. my care team is not the most communicative, but they are my only option at the moment, so i’m hoping maybe some other GP havers could clarify for me what exactly is “too much”? thanks in advance!

everyone is entitled to their own opinion, absolutely. what i do not understand is people that seem to hate every single thing that comes out of media they claim to love. when i used to play destiny 2, i saw the same pattern, and i never got it. now, with cookie run, people are so angry about just about everything. delays on maintenence time (even though this is an extremely well produced FREE app game that they give you free resources in exchange for patience of like, 1-2 extra hours of your time), small errors in translation, and most of all, the story. im seeing it especially on twitter right now (my fault for going on that evil app) that people are so, so angry over the story. every mention of shadow milk (who is quite literally one of the main characters), every bit of dialogue that they think is “cringe”, every story decision they don’t like (like white lily, even though that was a very obvious direction for her story to take imo). i truly don’t understand. if you’re still playing the game, clearly you enjoy it- what’s the point of being so aggressive about it??

i don’t know, kind of just a ramble from a relatively new player (that is now completely caught up and playing the new update as we speak). i wish people were kinder! and just let people enjoy the things the like and were polite about their differing opinions.

hope you are all enjoying the new update to some degree. happy timekeeper day! :]

hi yall! i have had a gj tube for nearing a year now. i had to have my low profile tube swapped for a dangler late last year, and now im due to have it swapped back to low profile (thank god. i hate this thing). problem is, my surgeon just sent me a message i don’t totally understand, and was hoping other tubies might. before you ask- his office is notoriously hard to get ahold of, so there is no way i can just call them and clarify. my tube change is on may 8th, and he only just sent me this message about 20 minutes ago (5 mins before the office closed, lucky me), which means i really need to figure out what this means and get back to him lol.

“I see you are on the schedule for PEG-J exchange to a low profile PEG-J. Can you tell me the number the current PEG-J is at when you hold gentle traction on the tube. I need to make sure we have the right length ordered. Thanks”

my tube does not have numbered markings on it or anything like that. i am not sure what he means by hold traction (might just be a me issue though). thanks in advance to anyone who can help!!
