Jaguar XF 3.0 V6
Good evening everyone.
My Jaguar 3.0 V6 2016 with 78,000 miles, unfortunately has started to have coolant issues over the last few months.
It has just recently had an expensive fix with one of the coolant pipes near the supercharger has had to be replaced with an aluminium one and for the last two months the car has been fine until this week when they started to have the coolant light on again and lose coolant.
This morning after a 60 mile drive where everything was fine as I arrived at my end destination there was a load of steam coming from the engine - fortunately I was stopping anyway, and I opened the bonnet and noticed that a small plastic nipple had to dislodged from what I think coolant crossover pipe and coolant was leaking out.
I managed to top it up with coolant and drive it to a nearby car park where I topped it up with coolant again, and the entire reservoir emptied within seconds, I think with some coolant leaking onto the floor.
It was only approximately 2 mile drive to the car park, but during this time I had an overheat warning. I managed to stop the car, cool it down before finishing the drive where I’ve now left it.
Does anybody have any idea why this nipple would’ve dislodged in the first place and what the issue could be with the reservoir emptying before it gets checked out by a garage?
