New Zealand student visa approved in 2.5 weeks - 3 years granted(?)

Hi everyone, I submitted my fee paying student visa application on 27 May, received my visa on 15 June with a validity for three years.

I was advised by a friend (immigration advisor) to check if there was a mistake as they typically approve the visa for one year, followed by a 1-year extension year on year (ie. extension of the visa gets granted after next year's school fees get paid).

I'm calling INZ this week to double-check, but has anyone else experienced this?

I'm starting semester 2 in July and was honestly really stressed it would take a long time like what I've seen on this forum! If anyone has any questions, I'm happy to help. Cheers!

Cried after my exam day but here are my results!! AMA!

No retakes, IELTS Academic. ngl I felt like I botched my speaking test that day cause of part 3 (couldn’t expand on the high level question cause I never thought of it before)

Aaaand reading was tough - felt like a few of the answers were right for the MCQ section
