Hello Hummingbirds,
I noticed this adorable nest in my back yard on an apricot tree. It's on a pretty thin branch and I'm worried about it getting knocked loose with the sway of the tree branches, or more likely blown off with a gust of wind. I'm in northern New Mexico and we do get gusty winds, any suggestions on how I might go about providing some shelter/protection for this little nest? It's about 5 feet off the ground, was thinking about trying to stabilize the branch and maybe putting some wood panels ~3-5 feet to the sides of the nest to act as a wind break, would appreciate any suggestions! I'm also going to put in a little feeder and a bird bath in the yard.
I stopped by Sprouts for lunch today and noticed that the Flock unit by the Paseo entrance I use was gone. I drove around and it seems that every single one has been taken down following the New Mexican article a couple of days ago. Hoping that Fidelis, the mall owners, stick with this.
