All the Flock cameras at De Vargas are gone!

I stopped by Sprouts for lunch today and noticed that the Flock unit by the Paseo entrance I use was gone. I drove around and it seems that every single one has been taken down following the New Mexican article a couple of days ago. Hoping that Fidelis, the mall owners, stick with this.

Help! Lost Dog: Biscuit

This little cutie is Biscuit. He went missing on July 5th from a pet sitter so he is an unknown territory. His family is out of the country but returning early (tonight) to try to help find their boy.

He went missing in the area of Old Las Vegas Highway, Bobcat Crossing and Ellis Ranch Road.
When he went missing his gps tracker had minimal charge and went dead quickly. We have established comfort/scent stations, traps and cameras are down, and posters are up.

Based on his movement, it is possible he might end up in the Eldorado area especially in the area of Avenida de Amistad. Please check your security cameras if you live in the area and keep your eyes open for this little one.

He is microchipped and all information is current. He is currently wearing a collar that appears to have a piece of leash attached which is not the case it is actually part of the GPS collar.

He is extremely skittish and will not approach you nor allow you to approach him. If you see him please DO NOT WHISTLE FOR HIM, DO NOT CALL OUT FOR HIM AND DO NOT TRY TO SECURE HIM. PLEASE KEEP YOUR EYES ON HIM FROM A DISTANCE, TAKE A PICTURE IF POSSIBLE AND CALL THE NUMBERS LISTED BELOW IMMEDIATELY.

Here are the numbers:
Michelle: 505-501-0473
Moni: (917)913-3007

We’d greatly appreciate any help! He is well-loved and very missed!

DEADLINE TODAY (7/6) for Public Comment on PROJECT JUPITER

https://actionnetwork.org/letters/submit-comment-on-ygis-new-air-pollution-application?source=direct_link&

Project Jupiter will be powered with natural gas which is the fastest way to get data centers up and running. Use of natural gas increases green house emissions. The NM state legislature has not passed legislation to regulate emissions from microgrids for data centers. trump recently froze the funds to pay for orphaned oil wells which impacts state level efforts to cap methane leaking wells. You think this summer was hot. Just wait.

Water availability will be impacted. There was hardly any snow in the Rockies this year which impacts us downstream.

Hazardous waste from Project Jupiter will likely be dumped in the Sunland Valley public landfill.

If you have a few extra minutes, contact your state legislator and tell them we need green energy requirements on microgrids, or, better yet, a moratorium on data centers. https://www.nmlegis.gov/members/find_my_legislator

Harvey Cornell Rose Garden

Great people of Santa Fe, if you have ever enjoyed the Rose Garden and are able to help, the SF Rose Society and Master Gardners need your help. They are meeting on July 11 and 18 from 9-12 to remove weeds. Please help by bringing a friend, a small shovel and gloves to remove weeds. If 100 people volunteer each day, we can make a huge dent in the weeds. The rose garden is located on the corner of Cordova and Galisteo.

Unlimited Yoga?

i’m having a terrible time finding an unlimited Yoga option in Santa Fe… That is a monthly amount that allows for you to do yoga as much as you want.

Yoga is extremely expensive here compared to other places I have lived. Does anyone know of an inexpensive, annual subscription option?

Franklin Miles Park for the 4th was awesome!

We live a few blocks from Franklin Miles Park and didn't know what to expect when the city decided to move the 4th of July party to the neighborhood, but I have to say it was great! Long before the fireworks started the lawns were covered with families having picnics, the playgrounds were absolutely buzzing with laughter among new friends, and the grass in front of the stage was full of people dancing and enjoying the live music. How great it was to be able to ride bikes to the neighborhood park and be part of such an atmosphere - certainly one of the strongest feelings of community we've had in Santa Fe.

Good job to the organizers and to all the friendly folks who showed up to share a fun time at the park.

Should Zozobra continue with “Themes”

With all the conversations around Kiwanis use of AI in their social posts, it got me wondering what Santa Fe’s consensus on the themes they’ve been doing each year. Please discuss in the comments

Today, July 6, 2026, is the last day to comment on Project Jupiter's air quality construction permit application!

Greetings fellow procrastinators! :)

Today is the last day to comment on Project Jupiter's air quality construction permit application on The New Mexico Environment Department's website. I've seen a lot of strong opinions here on the facility and thought you all might find this hard-to-find link useful: Yucca Growth Infrastructure, LLC-YGI Microgrid Air Quality Construction Permit Application

If you found the time to put your opinions on Reddit, I encourage you to share them here, too. I doubt the state reads Reddit to make its decisions.

You won't see "Project Jupiter" anywhere on this form, but Yucca Growth Infrastructure, LLC is the company that will be responsible for the data center's power system.

Thank you!

Restaraunt Recommendations (not Mexican/Latin/Southern)

I am moving to Santa Fe for work, and I (very much unfortunately) do not enjoy the aforementioned cuisine. I wish I did, and it's not for a lack of trying (albeit at probably far less authentic places where I used to live), but it's just not really for me. I will definitely try it more while I'm here, so if you'd like to, feel free to mention your favorite place. Mainly though, I'm looking for sit down restaraunts that locals would recommend to someone who isn't a fan of Latin food, preferably some place I could ask a date to. Thanks in advance!

Hi,
we’re four guys, and we’ve put together Westminster’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota. The concept is simple: you see two places side by side (for example Famille vs. Kachina Southwestern Grill), you choose the place you’d rather go to, and the ranking updates instantly. The more people vote, the more accurate the list gets over time. There are still a few duplicates here and there, but I’m continuously cleaning up the data.

Here’s the iPhone version, with categories that actually fit Westminster’s food scene:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota-restaurant-ratings/id6744969212

And here’s the Android version (finally live):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vota.app

P.S. I’m not from Westminster (I live in Gothenburg). I’m not collecting data, not selling anything, and the app does not use AI-generated content. I’m posting in a few different subreddits because we now support more regions, and I genuinely want honest feedback from people who actually know the area.

Visiting last week of July, Public Transport for Parks/Trails?

Hi! I am visiting Santa Fe for a work trip but have extended the trip to the weekend because I've always wanted to see New Mexico and am so excited.

The biggest thing I'm excited about is seeing the nature and hiking, however the big caveat is that I don't know how to drive.

I really wanted to go see the Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument, but I would need to uber from where i'm staying near the plaza. The way there is one thing, but getting an uber back has me really worried. I already have anxiety about solo travel so I really don't want to end up stranded in a remote area!

My questions are:

  1. Is there some kind of public transport/shuttle bus that has service to Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks or some other national park?

  2. How likely is it that I could call an uber ride from the Tent Rocks? Is it feasible or should I abandon this plan altogether?

  3. If Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks is not a possibility, are there any other more accessible nature/landscape activities available?

Thank you so much for reading and any thoughts are appreciated :)

Old Smiths Location on Cerillos?

What do you think will move into that location. I’m mourning the closure of that smiths because it was the closest grocery to me. Personally I would like the planet fitness to move there. What do you all think should go there?

They didn't even want us in this country.

https://www.hcn.org/wotr/never-underestimate-the-power-of-prejudice/

https://history.house.gov/Exhibitions-and-Publications/HAIC/Historical-Essays/Continental-Expansion/Conclusion/

https://legalclarity.org/when-did-new-mexico-become-a-state-the-62-year-wait/

The obstacles were both structural and deeply rooted in prejudice. Eastern politicians and the national media viewed New Mexico’s large Spanish-speaking population with suspicion, questioning their loyalty and fitness for self-governance. The territory was seen as a “bad bargain” whose people were “unlike the rest of the United States.”^(5) Unlike in Texas, Arizona, or California, where Hispanic culture was quickly marginalized, the Hispanic population remained the majority in New Mexico until the 1940s, and this cultural persistence made the territory seem foreign to Congress.

In this article you can see they lied about our bravery and even tried to take credit for a New Mexican stealing a enemy flag in the Civil War. This article is why I also resent Marc Simmons and Hampton Sides for shaping the narrative. Marc Simmons calls the men on both sides of the civil war true heroes.

https://www.santafenewmexican.com/news/local_news/some-hispano-civil-war-heroes-now-forgotten/article_8fc9d8b4-ffa0-5d9d-b7d2-1509bfdc91f4.html

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/326844314_Language_policy_and_language_contact_in_New_Mexico_The_case_of_Spanish?utm

"Public education policy was to eradicate Spanish, and children were punished for speaking their native tongue at school."

Where is the movie about the Hispanic World War Two soldier?

I just want to add that it amazes me that people could read the quote about America not wanting us because the Hispanic population was not marginalized like in other states and still post "Ha ha New Mexicans are xenophobes who don't like outsiders for no reason ha ha"

Notice how not one of them said. "We are happy you guys are American now"?
