Cabinets are all here. Lots of sorting to do still. But I finally have a dedicated Lego room.

I’ll do a full breakdown/walkthrough once everything is done. But this is the setup I’ve been working towards for the last week.

The room is 7x10’ excluding the corridor which is an additional 7x3’. Ceiling goes from 84” to 55”. No windows and only one light. The charm of turn of the century homes.

Moving has begun

A follow up to my last post about moving rooms. 90% of the Lego is at least in the new room. It’s 10x7’ with a 3x7’ corridor. The slanted ceiling is making things a bit interested to fit but I’m making the most of it.

I have 12 more Akro mills coming in and another Alex unit.

Time to move on from the storage I’ve worked the last 6 years to perfect.

After 6 long years of work it’s time to move on….to a dedicated LEGO room.

With the construction of my garage complete I’ve emptied out an extra room in my house that’s perfect for a Lego studio. Maybe not Solid Brix Studio size. A bitter more reasonable sized.

I’ll be spending the next few weeks planning and moving things around to remove the Lego from my room and getting the new space ready.

I have two goals to tackle with this move.

First is to make things easier to reach. I currently spend more time standing than I do sitting due to the height of everything.

The second is to allow for a more refined sort. My current wall of Akromills only has room for 11 different colors. I plan to expand to 24 commonly used colors.

Been working on downsizing my collection while trying to avoid being the problem at the table. How am I doing on the latter?

Dubia enclosures and frogs

Working on tank upgrades for some of our larger pets and I’m set to be left with an unoccupied Dubia 4x2x2 enclosure. Rather than buying a new animal I was looking to see if any of the ones I have could utilize it. The most likely candidates are my dart frogs or my male pixie frog. The issue at hand is moisture. These PVC tanks are notorious for leaking. Before taking time to seal the edges I wanted peoples opinions or experience with doing such.

My idea was to go overkill. Multiple coats of flex seal on all edges followed by pond tape and then a pond liner. In the case of the pixie I would make the water section its own thing using something like a preformed pond or something similar in size.

Is this doable or should I possibly cut my losses on the enclosure/consider a different animal?

Lego lettering ampersand help

Pic is an example of what I’m working with as far as lettering goes. Need to make an ampersand for a modular sign but have been racking my brain for way too long and have not gotten any further. Any help?

Cube that doubles as Commander library

I’ve been looking at consolidating my commander collection to allow cards to be shared between decks and then expand that library to be an actual cube (heavily artifact focused). I would mark the cards for each deck with stickers in the inner sleeve so I can pull out a deck fairly quickly but I’d also be able to draft the cube when needed.

Of course commander specific cards would be left out like Command Tower or Arcane Signet

Wanted to see if anyone else has done this. I know people do the “sticker cube” method for keeping collections minimal but wasn’t sure if the functional/draftable cube was something anyone else had success with.

Been reassessing my decks lately and this is what I’ve trimmed down to.

Making a conscious effort to avoid oppressive or overly competitive commanders.

Just had a 20x30x16 pole building installed. Electrical work is wrapping up now including the 18000 btu mini split. Next up is insulation and wall covering. I was looking at 7/16th osb for the walls and ceiling as I favor the durability over the presentation of drywall. Been weighing the options of fiberglass versus foam board or blown insulation on a cost and efficiency basis. I know I’ll probably get recommendations for closed cell spray foam but I’d like to leave that as the nuclear option.

I’m in zone 4a in Delaware. Building is intended as a warehouse for an online business so I will be working out there but not living in it.
