NGD, and also my first ever electric.

After months of going through an emotional roller coaster of research, hearing terms and lingo I genuinely don't understand, and too much choice paralysis, this beauty reappeared on my algorithm and suddenly everything just clicked. I feel like it might be a relatable story for some other first time Yammy owners, since Fender and Gibson, etc are a much more recognized brand.

I'm very glad I took it slow, for the first time, and not impulsively rush into something. Without doing the hw ahead of time, I wouldn't even know what boxes to check off that mattered to me. Otherwise, I probably would've ended up with a Squire or $1k+ Fender, both of which I felt was not quite what I wanted in a first guitar. Squire being a guitar I'd always end up feeling upgrade-itis to a Fender, and a $1k+ Fender being the "buy once, cry once dream guitar" but not even knowing what a "dream" guitar means to future/ more experienced me a few years down the line.

Picking out my first guitar felt very much like trying to pick out my first puppy.

Any-whoo! Here's some pics, and I think she fits right in her home very much so! And photo of said puppies helping unbox her.

Buy New or Used Yamaha PAC112V? First electric guitar!

It’s honestly been a roller coaster trying to learn and pick out a first electric guitar. There’s just too much lingo and nuances about an electric guitar that I feel I won’t know/ understand what I like until owning and playing one.

So after months of thinking, talking to friends, and way too much time on YouTube and Reddit, I think I’m going to settle for a Yamaha PAC112V in natural as my learning curve. It just looks so beautiful in this natural color and I like the look more than Squire Strats/ I hear it’s better. My home is Japandi/ Mid Century Modern styles and I love Bocchi the Rock so felt kinda like fate to have seen this.

I’m just wondering if you would recommend I should buy this new for $360 or is the open model on Sweetwater for $324 ok? There’s also one in Reverb for $305.

For music tastes (I feel so exposed mentioning these):
Indie rock, alt rock, Japanese rock, and some heavier things. I’m essentially a 90s kid who grew up on Vans Warped Tour but would like to learn songs and styles from 1975, Keshi, beebadoobee, backseat lovers, and ofc songs from Bocchi the Rock.

Appreciate the help, and excited to join the community!

And for Amp, a couple of posts recommend one called a Boss Katana Mini? Does that one matter new or used too?

Edit: Gave Sweetwater a call because I saw it was on sale during Black Friday, and they gave me the $309 price! Found a used Boss Katana Mini X locally too.

Looking at a Telecaster as first guitar! The serial number doesn't match their photos?

Originally wanted a Jazzmaster, then started drifted towards Stratocaster, and now I'm more set on a Telecaster. After watching so many guitar reviews, something about the sound just... made sense with my brain. Saw this one on FB Marketplace and loved the color!

This will be my first electric guitar though, so I'm not 100% sure what to look for when it comes to used ones so was hoping to get some feedback and advice. Looking to play mostly indie and modern rock/ maybe some heavier rock.

They're asking for $600.

Description:
MIM HH Telecaster with Upgraded Pickups (Seymour Duncan Nazgul/Sentient Pickups)
- Push Pull Tone Knob for Coil Splitting

One of my friends who is also new told me to look up the serial number for information on the guitar I'd purchase. However, the serial number looks like a completely different guitar? Is this something I should be concerned about?

Ty all in advanced!
