Japan revises copyright laws. Performers will now receive royalties. Not just the writers/producers and label.

This means that when Ado's music is played in a hotel, on the radio, or whatever, she will actually see a benefit from that. Just like if her music was used in a commercial, an anime, or a film. Japanese copyright law is really awesome and flexible in some ways, like how they handle things like covers and derivative works. But it is extremely archaic in other ways. This is a huge step in the right direction. It's great to see that performers are finally getting their due.

Hopefully the US will finally get their act together as well.

Utsu-P Aishite³ remix!

What a sick freaking remix. Utsu-P is on a roll lately.

Is there anyone on this sub that can set Ado's vocal performance to this? There's gotta be stems floating around somewhere 😭. Or maybe some kind of AI that can isolate the Ado vocals and the Utsu-P instrumental? Then they can be combined together? I will learn a freaking DAW if I have to to make this happen 😫

I've been dying for Ado x Utsu-P for like half a decade at this point.

Mom with the W

My 65 year old mother loves Ado. She noticed I hadn't talked about what I got from the Ao merch drop. I said it was cuz I'm taking it easy after the Zipangu trip. She tossed me her credit card and said "get whatever you want honey"

I love you mom. You're the best 😭

Ok I did one (ready to be roasted 😂)

Overhated is entire Rebuild of Evangelion

Best fights is all of Heavens Feel

Antagonist is a really hard one for me so I just put another Monogatari cuz that's my fave anime.

Would have loved to include Garden of Sinners somehow. But it just didn't fit 😭

And yeah there might be a tiny bit of baiting here. But it's an honest list.

Post vote clarity

How many of you thought of something way more awesome than what you voted for? I was thinking I should've tried to get a campaign going to get people to vote for Bury the Light 😂

How awesome would that be? Sure it's a little 2020. But man a good song is a good song and she would seriously kill it.

How amazing would an Ado cover of Oshi/Money be?

Also what's with Kikuo and having repetition in his song names? 😂

So are we thinking it's gonna be Nissan Stadium?

I've been going Pepe Silvia since her post Yodaka tweet storm. Following the trail of breadcrumbs that might all be in my head. After Vivarium (book, song, and livestreams) and knowing that Nissan Stadium Yokohama is the largest in Japan I've always thought it was gonna be here if it happens at all.

Once again, it doesn't matter to me if she performs in silhouette til the end of time, or stops doing live shows and sings out of her closet. But as a creative person myself and as a musician, I know the fear of stagnation. I know the desire to push your craft forward and the drive to keep growing. And while I don't understand the dynamics of having a fictional representation of myself more loved and popular than the real version, I can somewhat understand what she was saying about that being a fear she has.

Someone had posted on here about how they were surprised how little audience interaction there is at Ado concerts. Now I've seen her twice and I wouldn't say that there's ANY negatives to her live shows. But you could see her wanting to take that next step and really own the stage. To have the ability to connect with the audience in a more tangible way. To show all the gloomy girls filled with self doubt that there can be a bright future ahead of you full of light and love if you work at it and are ready to take advantage of the opportunities life affords you. She'd be taking that step forward on the largest stage in Japan.

So anyway, I'm horrible with words, I just think it really might be for real this time. If not, she is a diabolical marketing hype master 😂. Y'all feeling the same way? If you attended Zipangu, how do you feel about possibly attending her last performance done completely in silhouette?

Bag secured!

Got some of the new Phantom Siita drop. It's while supplies last, not pre-order. That new lightstick with the inserts is gas.

Zipangu Trip · May 13 – 19 📸

Figured I'd post the full album. Just a silly thing. I should've got more, but I have this thing about actually experiencing things with my eyes. Not through my phone. So you'll notice ZERO pics from the festival.

Music Awards Japan Nominees

Man Kenshi Yonezu and HANA freaking killing it with their nominations. Congratulations to those folks!

What I came to post about was the fact that Usseewa is Ado's only nomination. It was for something like, Best Global Hit From Japan. The category has no restrictions on release date. It's strictly based on popularity.

I get that Ado wasn't too active this year. No album, no big tour, no soundtrack etc. Nothing that would have a big awards season push. What I don't get is Usseewa... What are we doing guys? Is Usseewa peak? Yes, yes it is. But is that really the song we're all listening to most? Or is it that her First Take performance really did introduce her to a whole new group of people so they're starting there and branching out to her other stuff from there?

Why is that song, almost SIX YEARS LATER, still her most popular track? And so popular that it's in the top 6 most popular Japanese songs in the world! Absolutely wild stuff. I doubt she'll take it over Iris Out or Jane Doe. Kenshi Yonezu is having a wild year. Even ReawakeR has a good shot at winning. But I'll still be rooting for our girl.

I find this kind of stuff fascinating. So please don't take this as any shade being thrown in any direction at anyone. It's not like that at all.
