Music Awards Japan Nominees
Man Kenshi Yonezu and HANA freaking killing it with their nominations. Congratulations to those folks!
What I came to post about was the fact that Usseewa is Ado's only nomination. It was for something like, Best Global Hit From Japan. The category has no restrictions on release date. It's strictly based on popularity.
I get that Ado wasn't too active this year. No album, no big tour, no soundtrack etc. Nothing that would have a big awards season push. What I don't get is Usseewa... What are we doing guys? Is Usseewa peak? Yes, yes it is. But is that really the song we're all listening to most? Or is it that her First Take performance really did introduce her to a whole new group of people so they're starting there and branching out to her other stuff from there?
Why is that song, almost SIX YEARS LATER, still her most popular track? And so popular that it's in the top 6 most popular Japanese songs in the world! Absolutely wild stuff. I doubt she'll take it over Iris Out or Jane Doe. Kenshi Yonezu is having a wild year. Even ReawakeR has a good shot at winning. But I'll still be rooting for our girl.
I find this kind of stuff fascinating. So please don't take this as any shade being thrown in any direction at anyone. It's not like that at all.
