The story on this one: bought by a great great something of mine in the late 1800s or early 1900s. He was evidently a big wig millionaire but lost everything somewhere along the way. He and my family lived in Boston and they bought this from some fancy gallery.
It was heading to a thrift shop, but with the story i decided to divert. Cool story, I might hang it in my office. I’d love to know more about it and who the artist is.
From my own research I don’t think it is one of the tonalist masters or anything, but it doesn’t seem like it was mass market either.
