Mazda2 Seatbelt Misaligned
I wrote a very long post but reddit didn't like it and I can't be bothered to write it out again! Video below shows OH Mazda2 (2015) rear left (UK) seatbelt failing to retract. There is a flange on the sides of the spool, one side larger than other, and once the diameter of the rolled up belt surpasses the flange, it slips off and is pulled into the external frame. Friction stops it spooling further.
Curiously, on right side, the larger flange is on the side it is pulled towards, so rolled belt doesn't grow larger than flange, it doesn't slip off and it doesnt get stuck.
Questions:
- Is it possible to just flip the spool so the higher side is towards the direction the belt is pulled?
- Did mazda accidentally fit a right seatbelt to the left side?
- Did Mazda overlook this and duplicate a part assuming it would be fine on both sides? It is a pretty essential safety feature to get right!
Video of side that doesn't work attached.
