Do you enjoy being part of this community? Want to help it grow? I’m looking for 1-2 more people to help moderate this subreddit! It’s not a lot of work as-is, but I could use some extra eyes on modmail and reports (as I don't check/want to check Reddit daily tbh). Please send a modmail if you're interested!

On a related note, I never heard back from the user who suggested a "vegan girly group chat" and I don't have the bandwidth to create/run one by myself right now. If someone would like to create one then make a post here, please do!

Poll Results

A few weeks ago, I published a poll asking if the community would like stricter moderation on the type of content posted. About 2/3rds of responders said "no, it's fine as-is" so I will not be enforcing stricter moderation.

I have however updated the rules to change the day of the week when posting any types of meals is encouraged to Fridays (previously Saturdays), and will be scheduling a recurring reminder post starting June 5th. Based on feedback, I might repeat the survey in the future as the sub grows. (PS - sorry for the late response on the results - I got busy!)

TLDR; will not be removing posts that don't necessarily qualify as girl dinner, but will try to actively encourage posting them on Fridays.

Group Chat

There have been some posts & comments expressing a desire for a vegan girls group chat! I've messaged the user who originally had the idea to see if we can coordinate, but would love to help get a Discord up & running either way. Stay tuned!

I made this sub last year on a whim and it's been so fun watching it grow! I'm brand new to moderating and still learning the quirks of Reddit's system and getting into the habit of queue review since it doesn't always notify me of reports. I appreciate your patience and welcome any suggestions to improve the sub.

Specifically in the past couple of weeks, I'm noticing that Reddit's auto-mod feature has been flagging things as spam when they don't seem to be! I'm trying to stay on top of it but these aren't always clearly visible so sometimes I'm slow to catch it.

I love having such a kind and positive community here, since being vegan can be isolating irl and so many online spaces skew negative. Thank you for being here! 💖

I’m noticing an increase in posts of meals that, while lovely, I wouldn’t necessarily consider girl dinner (low effort & at least a bit chaotic).

I don’t want to over-moderate content but at the same time, girl dinner is what the sub is all about!

When creating the sub I designated a day (Saturdays) for higher effort/traditional meals but haven’t enforced posting or using flairs for that purpose.

So girl diners… do you want the community to be moderated more strictly? This would mean posts that aren’t necessarily girl dinner would be limited to one day per week and require a flair.
