You know, sometimes it's nice the wife and I have a secret, silent language we both can speak in public.
We were charged $4.50 to be brought a plate
Ok, I get it if you come in and order one meal with a couple of waters - even more so if they offer bread service or something free. However no bread, we ordered an appetizer AND an extra soup because we were sharing.
We made the mistake of telling our server we were sharing, and yet they didn't even "split" it onto two plates, just brought the extra plate. We commented to our server about the upcharge when the bill arrived and she pointed out that it was stated on the menu (at the bottom in smallish print). We replied that it would have been nice to have been told that, similar to when you change a side dish and sometimes there's an upcharge, which is usually explained at that time.
We feel if we hadn't commented that we were sharing, they wouldn't have even known as I ordered the Chower as my "meal". Good to know because we go to that casino often, even that restaurant, and that extra $4.50 charge for a plate will probably keep us out in the future just for the principle of it.
Edit: Jesus people. First, the $4.50 was added into the $24 Lasagna plate. Second, I didn't take anything out on the server, just discussed it with her. She got a full tip on the Food purchase. Third, the menu stated a "Split Plate" fee, not a sharing fee. So if you're goint to call me out on the technicallity of it being on the menu, they should have technically provided the service. Third... i'm only "mildly" infuriated.
