Is it worth trying to pay off a dormant debt?

So I did a coding bootcamp in 2021. I signed a promissory note for $8k in deferred tuition. The payment plan was from 2022-2024, which I have paid about 5k and have about 3k left to pay off.

This was an internal company debt (not through a bank or a 3rd party lender) but I did sign a promissory note saying I will pay it off.

The last communication from them was April 2024, and the last payment I made was July 2025. There is no interest accruing, as that was part of the payment plan. There is supposedly late payment fees, but the payment is through Intuit and the balance has not increased since July 2025 (or ever).

I don't see anything on my credit report or from the IRS, but they mentioned potentially issuing d a 1099-C back in March 2024 because I was unemployed and couldn't pay. The CEO was generous enough to let me pay it off on my own schedule, but from what I can tell, the company went dormant around June 2024. Most of their links on the website are broken, and their social media barely has any activities.

I live in California. From what I've researched, after 4 years they can't legally sue me for it (statute of limitations on written contracts), and after 7 years it can no longer appear on my credit report. Is this accurate? Given all this, should I still pay it off or just wait and see?

Is BILT worth it?

Hi everyone, I am trying to see if getting BILT card is worth it for me. I tend to purely use it for paying my rent, and nothing else.

From what I found, it will still give me 250 points per month for the free version even if I have no other purchases than rent on there.

Currently, I am paying rent with my checking account, so I get nothing back from paying it.

Is it true that there is no processing fee paying rent with BILT? and would it be worth it for my use case?

Costco Citi Card Apple Wallet Issue

So, I got my Citi Costco card about 2-3 months ago, and honestly, it’s been a pain in the ass. First, it was impossible to even activate the card because they kept saying the information they had on file was different from my input. We found out later after 1.5 months and 3 replacement cards that it was an error on their end. Now, when I try to add the card to my Apple Wallet, it won’t let me.

I’ve had to call their fraud department and talk to them for hours, only for them to say, “You may just need to wait until you are in good standing,” which makes no sense since I’ve only made 2 purchases with the card, and it’s not like I’ve missed any payments.

Has anyone else had this issue or know how to resolve it? I’m able to add my other bank credit cards without any problems, but Citi has been a headache.
