Unicef’s Friendship Circle Puzzle, Unicef, 200

I couldn’t resist this at the thrift store, but unfortunately it was missing 14 pieces! I probably should’ve known given the age of this puzzle, but hope springs eternal. I’ve never had this many missing pieces from a thrifted puzzle, bummer.

It’s so cute I can’t bring myself to trash it. Should I put it in my library’s swap shelf (with a note), donate it (with a note), or chuck it?

The World of Agatha Christie, Laurence King, 1000

I love this series! I like the art, where it’s full of details but can be sorted by color or pattern or texture. The pieces are also thick and sturdy and matte. This one is super cute and came together pretty quickly. Love me a stress-free puzzle that’s thrifted and complete!

EDIT: I should say, complete, BUT with one piece chewed out, ha! If you look closely, it’s in the bottom border on the right side. Thankful for the previous puzzle owner who rescued the piece and still included it in the box!

City Living - Inside Out, Master Pieces, 1000

I was stuck on a puzzle and abandoned it and got lots of support from this group, so I just wanted to say THANK YOU!

I started another puzzle and boy am I glad I did. This was way more fun for me and it just flew by. I’m a fan of this cutaway style, even more so when each section feels like its own mini puzzle.

This one had small-ish pieces, glossy, crumbly (reminds me of eeBoo maybe?), but no false fits. Alas, missing one piece. But still a fun puzzle for the weekend!

My first and last Wasgij

I never see Wasgij puzzle at the thrift store so I was excited when I came across this one. I’m not a fan of surprise mystery puzzles but heard a lot about this brand so I’ve been wanting to try it.

Unfortunately it’s incredibly loose and there are false fits. I’m frustrated and just don’t think it’s worth powering through. I do not want to spend my weekend on a miserable puzzle!

Anybody have a different experience with Wasgij? Maybe mine’s just a dud!

Washington, DC Mall, Dowdle, 500

Did this as a relaxing activity with extended family after Sunday Supper. Turned out to be a tad more stressful—I didn’t think we would finish it because it was getting late, but some of us couldn’t stop! :) Dowdle always has good quality that makes it an enjoyable build, and I like how they have so many cities and places. Next time I’m bringing a 300 pc puzzle! :)

Dumpling Truck, Mudpuppy, 75

The cutest puzzle ever! I loved building this breezy puzzle, sturdy pieces, random cut and fun design. I saw the original tag was Marshalls—I really need to start shopping for puzzles there (and Home Goods!).

Nancy Drew Mysteries, Cobble Hill, 500

Nancy Drew started me on the path to a lifetime of loving books, so this puzzle is nostalgic for me. This was fun to do at 500 pieces, but I probably wouldn't touch it at 1000. Good quality pieces with blue backing (which makes me think of Ravensburger), but looser fit than I expected. Overall an enjoyable build, and a sweet reunion with a cool sleuth!

[Spoiler Alert] The Gnomes’ Homes, Magic Puzzle Company, 1000

This was more fun than I expected! I kind of swore off Magic Puzzle Company after my first one becaue it was all lavender and felt like a slog despite all the cute detail.

This one was easier for my brain to sort because of the color sections (like four seasons!). I appreciated the special shapes more and found them clever. The “reveal” made more sense to me, too.

This is my second thrifted Magic Puzzle Company and I’m glad (and amazed—faith in humanity restored) they were both complete!

I have a third Magic Puzzle Company (Peckish Pirates, -1 piece), Odd Puzzles someone gave me, and a Wasgij in my to do pile. I haven’t done Odd Puzzles or WAsgij yet! Wondering which one I should do next!

Somewhere in Tokyo, Good Fortune, 200pc

I love Good Fortune’s art! I also like busy street scenes like this. I was glad they came out with a smaller piece count. Quality is a bit lacking here though—I prefer their 1000pc puzzles. Still would recommend this brand!

Snail Makl, Re-marks, 300

Fun and easy breezy palette cleanser after a couple of 1000-piece puzzles. :)

Sweet Home, Re-marks, 1000

Since getting a wooden puzzle board with drawers and a lazy susan in the living room, we have been puzzling as a family more! I find that I’m starting the puzzle, sorting out borders, getting a few pockets done, and then someone else will contribute, and one day I wake up and it’s all done. I actually wish I had worked on this one a lot more than I did before someone finished it—it’s such a fun build! I like the quality of this brand, they click well, although some pieces felt tiny. Nice, bright colors. Highly recommend!

Floating Library, Reverie, 1000

My first Reverie and I’m hooked! The pieces are so lux, thick with a velvet feel. Way too much blue in this puzzle for my liking but thankfully it had varying hues so it wasn’t a slog. Will be on the lookout for more of this brand!

Imaginary Dragons, Dowdle, 100

I keep saying I don’t like Dowdle puzzles but I thrifted a whole bunch of them and every time I finish one it’s always a satisfying build! The pieces are thick, no false fits, and the shapes make it interesting. This one at 100 pieces was fun and easy and perfect for winding down when you want to start and finish something without stressing. I also like this art more than others from the brand!

National Parks Patches, Buffalo, 1000pc

I haven’t done many collages like this but it was fun!

Camping Adventures, Dowdle, 300

One of my favorite ways to puzzle is with a group and on vacation by a lake! It’s just so calming. I brought this one on a recent trip and it was quick and easy, but still satisfying. I like Dowdle’s big pieces, although not too much a fan of the art. This one seemed apt for the scenery though!

Summer Abundance, New York Puzzle Company, 500pc

I’ve always admired Loré Pemberton’s art in NYPC puzzles so I’m glad I took this one to a lake house outing! We did this puzzle together and it was more challenging than expected. The shapes are all quirky. Love the texture on the pieces. Nice to find that it was a square and it didn’t have any borders or The New Yorker logo (like the magazine covers).

The Gloam Cafe, Momibook, 1000pc

So super cute! Pieces fit well, no false fits, good thick feel. A little too shiny for my preference but not a deal breaker. The back has marks on them so you can sort into two piles (one for the top part of the puzzle and the bottom), which I did. It was still a bit difficult in some spots! But tackling 500 at a time felt more doable. I do like this brand and their designs!

Costco, Dowdle, 500pc

Did this one with friends on a puzzle night! Unanimously chosen since everyone was a Costco fan. It’s as hard as it looks but also fun to do together. Also nice spotting the funny details.

Wanderlust, Ravensburger, 1000pc

This was my first of this kind of Ravensburger puzzle where they show almost two different scenes: one is inside and the other is the view outside. It made it much easier! The colors were very vibrant and there were so many details so it lessened mt anxiety for sure. I haven’t done a 1000pc puzzle in a while so this was a nice and relaxing entry back. Did this with my son.

Circle of Colors - Mushrooms, Ravensburger, 500

My first Circle of Colors and it didn’t disappoint! I enjoyed the gradient (also my first time) and the pieces fit well. Passed the lift test for the most part. Lovely and enjoyable. I’m still partial to square and rectangle puzzles but I’ll keep picking these up if I see a good deal!

Also used my new puzzle board (a wooden one from All4Jig which has drawers and a lazy susan) and it’s a game changer! So much easier to sift through pieces (the drawers are wide enough) and it’s not as bulky as I initially feared it would be. It makes it more fun to do collaborative puzzling.
