Anne/Jack final scene

I’m absolutely delighted with those «firm hugging after the victory winter» final scenes, looking at Anne and Jack’s reunion I unintentionally realised that I need a couple of plaids, a cup of hot chocolate and to turn my garland with small lights on. And suddenly I hear John Lennon’s voice, and Happy Xmas starts playing. Unbelievable…

That scene reminds me of another underrated series with my fabulous David Tennant - «Around the world in 80 days» The picture is fantastic and the colour spectrum is so cozy. Highly recommend, especially for those, who are history series’ buffs as me!

I need some pragmatics’ sources for my thesis

A big «hello» to my favourite linguistic community! I am about to write my thesis on pragmatics and I am in desperate need for help. The topic sounds like «Tactics of consolation in a video discourse based on the material from streams»
And there I have two requests:

  1. Could you recommend me any bibliography connected with the basis of pragmatics (it might be also some links, articles, literally everything) and with the topic of my thesis, if you know something suitable enough.
‘Cause my supervisor didn’t give me any details and sources to scrutinise during my summer vacation when i have time for that and WANT to explore this field of science (I have no against it, he’s a sweet jerk, love him, but i’am dying to hit the books haha)

2)Do you know any streamers, whose videos i can use as a foundation for my work?

I would be SO grateful, if you help me to find something useful and compelling. Thanks in advance!

I'VE FINALLY FINISHED BLACK SAILS

I started to watch the series a long time ago and here I am. I appreciate advice given by everyone who saw my previous post, ignoring spoilers was the best way to maintain my interest 'till the end. Well, I collected the main points, which I'd like to pin here:

  1. I am about to kiss the golden hands of the scriptwriters, all their small scenes with the characters' reveals, intentions for the further plot, all the plot twists and intrigues at the end of each episode...it's giving like "wow", not less.

  2. A little bit upset of the Rogers' line, despite of his actions towards Teach and other pirates, he deserved more than this ending, QUITE more. I was shocked of the scene with a fire in the Flint's house, when Rogers literally holds Eleanor in his arms, crying bitterly. And then those scene during the trial...He is such a kitten, IDK.

  3. Didn't understand the illness thing in s3 for the plot, but maybe it's just my wrong interpretation (I'd never give up a thought that I adore the scriptwriters. "Save a horse, ride the scriptwriters of Black Sails")

  4. WHY SILVERFLINT ISN'T A CANON

  5. Ig I expected more deplorable ending for the pirates ('cause good always triumphs over bla bla), but u know how it works: bad ending - fans are disgruntled, good ending - either, so let it all be like that.

To sum up, it was a wonderful experience, the best historical pirate series I've EVER seen. And I'd LOVE to abreact, to discuss just everything, but I don't have anyone to do it with, and I feel that I told all my friends' ears off, so now I need someone to chat please help hahaha
Love you all, guys, thank you!

i’ve just finished s2

at first i was in search of the series that would be kinda similar to “our flag means death”, i found “Black Sails” and started to watch this series, it was about two years ago, but then i quickly neglected it in the middle of the second season ‘cause i was short of time, now i renew the watching and HOLY SHIT the last episode of the second season had me on the edge of my seat. The events and actions were so fast that i didn’t manage to catch the aims of the characters, but then i did, actually, i just want to say that this series is a real ABSOLUTE CINEMA

i also can’t stop to scroll my Tik Tok watching fan edits, even if they contain some spoilers, what is a big mystery for me, because i hate spoilers in all their ways. Moreover I saw that there would be more new characters in the next seasons, so i can’t wait for the further watching!

linguistic nerds, are you here?

I’m a belarusian student learning foreign languages for about more than 4 years. I absolutely adore this humanitarian field. But during the last year i started to dig deeper in search of some uncommon interesting topics to explore, especially based on pragmatics, theoretical grammar and stylistics, now i need a help from the same freaks as me, what are your favourite linguistic subjects of discussion? what kind of books could you highly recommend me to read?

(i’m also open to striking up new acquaintance, let’s nerd out together)
