Had some unplanned car repairs and decided it's time to sell some of my steelbooks. (I will also be selling some Criterions and other 4K discs in separate posts.)

* CAVEAT EMPTOR: I treat my steelbooks with care but I'm am not the kind of person who handles them in white gloves or who keeps in them in protective cases. I feel that these are all in good condition and I am presenting them in good faith. However, I cannot guarantee that they are 101% pristine to the highest standards. I am happy to provide addition photos or videos if requested. *

Shipping is $6 for the first movie and $1.50 for each additional in US48. I ship USPS insured, not media mail (may my Hackers 4K rest in pieces.) I will ship elsewhere based on cost of shipping.

Is there any other way to contact Avid?

I teach at a university and want to bring Media Composer to my students. The Avid website has pages about educational programs and helping students, and I’ve reached out to them through the various “get in contact” options on their website but have never heard back.

Does anyone here happen to have a direct contact to someone at Avid, particularly in sales? Or another suggestion for how to get in touch with them?

Akira 4K failed to open and I don't know why

I have a Pioneer BDR-XD07U drive that I have used to rip probably 200 4K discs with. When I put in my new copy of Akira 4K, I got the error "The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted."

I had successfully opened Super Mario Galaxy 4K just before it, and was able to do The Last Jedi right after, so I'm confused why Akira didn't open.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what I could try?

How can I best replace my old bathroom fan?

My bathroom fan has stopped working. Most of the fans I saw at the store were smaller in dimensions and were powered by a standard Edison plug, not the power connector that my fan has.

Further, this fan is connected by a brace that seems to be part of the larger box, making me wonder if I'll need to go into the attic and remove the whole thing, but I'm not sure what to replace it with.

  1. Is there an adapter that I can use to connect a standard plug into the connect here?

  2. Are there any suggestions for adapting a smaller fan into the existing box/space?

  3. Is there anything else I should be considering?

"It takes three great films to be a Master"

In posting a comment on a different thread, I came across this old post on Criterion's website (from 19 years ago... dang), where Peter Becker commented that they sometimes play a game around the office, asking if someone is a "master" and saying that it takes three great films/works to be considered a master. (https://www.criterion.com/current/posts/728-voyagers)

So, who's your master (director, writer, actor, cinematographer, etc.) and what are their three great works?

Best Buy has “Topteng” drives

I’ve never heard of this brand and didn’t find any mention of it on this sub.

I usually avoid unknown brands but wanted to ask on here just in case someone has any experience with them.
