Question: Why do both police and sheriffs departments exist rather than just one or the other? It often seems like they have overlapping jurisdictions with similar reach/authority and similar job duties?

Is one organization above another, if there is or if there were, a real or hypothetical organizational hierarchy?

Has anybody else noticed that when English speakers are asked a question in a language they don’t understand, they’ll just nod their head,or say “yes,” and when Spanish speakers are asked a question in a language they don’t understand they just shake their head or say “no?”

Am I going crazy over here? I swear that any time I hear a Hispanic person here in American ask anything to a non-Spanish speaking American (in Spanish) their default response is just “yes” or “mmhmm,” whereas when it’s the other way around, and English speaking Americans are asking a question to a Hispanic person who does not speak English, their default reply is usually “no, no.” That is all. Just an observation that may be the result of me connecting dots that might not even exist in the first place. Have a nice evening.

Can anybody who remembers this era of UT Football please help me determine which autographs are on this cap? Besides the only truly legible one?

Got it at a thrift store.

Any insight is appreciated.

What species of bamboo is this? Found in central Texas within 50 yards of a creek.

I cannot for the life of me figure out which species of bamboo this is. Any insight will be appreciated.

Does anybody have any photos of the embankments along the basketball courts at Bluebonnet Elementary School in Round Rock, TX?

And if so, would you mind sharing them with me?

It’s an odd request, I’m aware. The gist of it is this: I live in Austin and I have been working on an interactive map of skateboarding spots in the area, and there is a skate spot here at this school. The issue is that there are no good photos of this skateboarding spot from Google Street View because it’s tucked away near the center of the property and not near the road (which is where all of the Google Street View Photos are taken from). I’ve scoured the internet, but aside from a video of some kids playing basketball at the spot - almost all of whom obscure the view of the spot in the video - I’ve found nothing. I mean, if i have to, I’ll just drive 20 miles at some point to go take photos myself, but asking reddit seemed slightly more practical.

______Please Read______
I understand that this isn’t a spot where people should skateboard. Please spare me with all the words/phrases such as “trespassing,” “ELEMENTARY school,” “complaint,” “against the law” and all that stuff…I get it. I really do. But nothing that can be said - regardless of how true and sensible it is - that will bear any weight in my decision to just move forward and do it anyways. With that being said, thank you in advance for any help you may be able to offer - I sincerely appreciate it.
