My first attempt!
I decided to give one of Linkers videos a shot, so fun! Sanded, painted with acrylic, plan to finish with water based polyurethane.
Suggestions on my next project?

What products should I purchase for treating the carving? Linseed oil? Grain of sandpaper for smoothing out carvings? And what type of paints do people use if you paint your carvings?
I’m a high school history teacher in today’s world of egotistical, image obsessed society where students lack curiosity, creativity, and strive for money rather than living happy and full lives. I’m wanting to find some reading that will help me combat/think about these issues and the alternatives. I really enjoyed Seneca’s “On the Shortness of Life,” but would appreciate some other recommendations (including fiction). Thank you!
Need some help regarding beavercraft knives fresh out of the box. I’m new to woodcarving and bought my first set of intro/beginner knives. For my first project, I had to exert a ridiculous amount of force for seemingly simple cuts (Basswood). The knives appear sharp to the naked eye and I stroped them, but the problem remains. What’s the easiest way to get them to actually be sharp enough for carving, or should I just buy a new set? Complete newby here, my apologies. And if the answer is “Buy Flexcut,” that’s fine too.
I'm a veteran history teacher in Washington State around the Seattle area. I've been hoping to start independent tutoring but am struggling to figure out how much to charge to start. I'm hoping to tutor AP US History, AP World History, and other high school history subjects.
I really enjoyed Theo of Golden by Allen Levi and am looking for similar themed books. I really enjoyed the aspects of curiosity and living a simple life!
I’m not talking about “oh I liked this character” or “wow, interesting plot twist.” I’m talking where you couldn’t put the book down and finished thinking “goddamn that was a good story.” Any genre!
