Would Love Your ID Thoughts!

Acquired my first Caladium Bicolors yesterday, under the cultivar name “green/white” 🙄

Absolutely lovely plants, but I’d love a proper ID! The firsts (pic 1, 2) has a much darker brown/black stem, and the leaves are green/white with a blush of pink. The second (pic 3, 4) stem is more regular/light brown. As you can see, there’s also some slightly different coloration between the leaves, but I think that’s just due to them still being newer growth and they’ll turn more white as they mature.

I’m fairly certain #2 is a “White Christmas”, but I’ve got about 4 different answer searching online for #1 (including White Christmas lol). Excited to start my collection with these two, TIA for any input or advice!

D. Filiformis var. Tracyi Bifurcation!

Tidying up one of my bogs today when I noticed what appears to be a bifurcated stem on my D. Tracyi! I had just finished trimming up my D. Binata, so it took me a second to realize this wasn’t normal 🤣 Apparently this is a bit rare, anyone else seen this?

Edit: I’ve since been told that D. Tracyi is recognized as its own species! The grower these were purchased from a few months ago has them listed as a variety… Don’t hate me!

Facebook Haul Sorted!

Joined a Texas Carnivorous Plant group this week and came upon a collector near me getting rid of a lot of his collection. They arrived in the mail today and I got them all separated by species and couldn’t be happier (plus the small mixed pot for my little cousin)! I got mostly sundews but also my first two nepenthes, so any care tips are welcome for those. I was told they were previously in a high humidity tent, so I’ll be acclimating them in the ziplocks over the next few weeks.

Had to go all out and get them a tent, proper light, and fan. I’ve only been keeping carnivorous plants for a few months, so hopefully I didn’t do too much damage to the roots when potting and this will be the start to my great drosera collection! (Also, will probably lower the water level tomorrow bc I feel like it’s a little too high for some of the shorter planters… don’t come at me!)

Fungal/Rot Problem?

Hi All, I see this is labeled as a European grower sub, but I haven’t been able to get a reply on any others. A bit new to the hobby so I’m quite worried, but hoping it’s a pretty generic issue...

Today I noticed a few leaves turning yellow on one stalk of my Texas Star Hibiscus (Hibiscus coccineus). This led me to the base of the stalk where I noticed a black spot forming. It doesn’t feel mushy or any softer than the rest of the stalk, and doesn’t wrap all the way around. This is the only stalk with the black spot/yellowing leaves.

Picked this up around a little over a month ago, I am located in Texas. Was repotted to a bigger 16” pot a few weeks ago in all-purpose potting mix. It receives a lot of sun, water, and has been healthy and blooming otherwise. Does this seem like a fungal/rot issues and if so should I remove this stalk? Thanks for any help!

Drosera ID, Tropical or Temperate?

It may be too early to accurately tell, but can anyone help me ID this drosera? It piggybacked to me on my first order of carnivorous plants about a month ago. I’d mainly like to know if it’s a tropical or temperate variety, as it’ll need to be removed from my outdoor bog for before winter if tropical. (I think? 😅)

First two images are from when I received it, others are from the last few days with new growth after being sunburned and dying to basically nothing (sun acclimation failed😩) but it’s growing super fast and pushing out new traps daily!

The Akai Ryu it came on was ordered from carnivorousplantnursery.com if that can give any clues… Any help or advice is greatly appreciated, TIA!
