Castle Towers

Constructing towers for a large castle for the Lich Lord's flying castle in Frostgrave. Combined technique of DIY with cans, foam bricks (purchased off Etsy), wood stirrers, 3D printed doors and windows, and some bits from a Games Workshop set bought on sale.

The Bone Wheel

We played The Bone Wheel, 9th scenario from Thaw of the Lich Lord, at the club last night. I did not take enough pictures. We had 3 warbands daring the frozen city. A Major Demon got summoned and then Transposed across the board to cause chaos. The Banshees started out being an annoyance, but at the end they randomly concentrated and wailed the guts out of one of the warbands. I quite like my Bone Wheel which is a small lazy susan covered in all the skulls from a GW box of skulls. This scenario was lots of fun and I will add it to the ones I put on at conventions.

Frostgrave at Historicon

I took a few pictures at Historicon 2026. I had six players for three scenarios. We got in five games. The servants of the Lich Lord, Death Cultists in the Dark Cauldron and Loot the Cart and an Apprentice in Battle on the Frozen River, were completely wiped out. I only spawned monsters in the Monster Phase as I was trying to run three games simultaneously. In retrospect I should have either have monsters spawn automatically in the Monster Phase or also rolled when treasures got touched. There were not enough monsters to keep things interesting. Next to my table was a Romans vs Picts on the Antonine Wall game. A Roman Legionnaire wandered by. It was a good time and lots of folks stopped by to ask about Frostgrave and take pictures.

Frostgrave at Historicon

My Frostgrave games at Historicon got a shout out from the HMGS. We played five games. The servants of the Lich Lord had a very bad day. Not one survived.

Frostgrave at Historicon

Finishing up preparation for Frostgrave at Historicon (https://tabletop.events/conventions/historicon-2026) on Saturday. I will be setting up for three scenarios from Thaw of the Lich Lord: Battle on the Frozen River; Loot the Cart; and the Dark Cauldron on Saturday. All spaces are taken, but Frostgrave enthusiasts are welcome to stop by to say hello. Also a picture of some new things to put on the tables from out of my 3D printer: creepy trees, a cart; and some things slated for the Lich Lord's castle where I am figuring out how to paint things black.

What System for Mountains of Madness?

I have lots of Frostgrave frozen city terrain and for Call of Cthulhu RPG I have a gang of Investigators and some Cosmic Horrors. If I add squads of Nazis, WWII US Marines, UK Special Services, and Soviets I could make a pretty good multiplayer skirmish in the frozen ruins of an alien city. What system do you all suggest? More than 2 players and not too complex for running at the club and if it goes well at conventions.

House of Longreach at Concotion

House of Longreach at Concotion in Vineland, NJ yesterday. I ran the game three times for some players including one who took a break from a Warhammer 40k tournament going on a few tables over. It was a good time and I hope this convention, it was the first one, comes back again next year.
