How to take care of my pede during a heatwave? Was moving him to another tank a good idea?

Hi, so there's a heatwave in my area - 35-40°C outside. I turn the fan off only for the night, I've been keeping both of my tanks moist, yesterday when it was ~36°C outside I did place a few ice cubes wrapped in cloth in one of the tanks (in the other one all of my pedes hid underground so I figured it wouldn't do much for them) and today (it's not yet 40°C, but close and hot af anyway) I decided to both just directly pour water on the soil and mist the tanks with water straight out of the fridge to cool them down at least a little bit. I did open up the bigger tank completely so as not to restrict air flow at all.

And now to the pede - I'll only talk about the one that concerns me bcs the others seem to be adjusting well. Basically, since the start of the heatwave, my guy became a lot less energetic, he stayed in one place, only wiggled around a little bit and every now and then munched on the melon piece I gave him. He never really buried (he did only once, maybe for a week, since I got him). I know that it's normal for them to be a little slower when it's hot, but his state this morning really concerned me, especially since I found him covered in a piece of moss & bark and with his head against the soil. I sprayed him a little with the fridge-water and took him out to see if he would react to being handled. Aand yeah, he did walk around a bit but was very wobbly (his grip was nonexistent, if I didn't secure him on my hand, he would've fallen like 5 or 6 times). Then I thought - maybe he did want to bury completely but didn't have the strength to go underground (he's generally a very petite little man, plus now this heat😭). Knowing my bigger pedes in another tank have a huge underground system he could easily crawl into, I sprayed their tank more with fridge water and put my guy with them. I know moving can be really stressful for them, so when he crawled straight into one of the hides and didn't come out for a long time, I got worried and came here.

And as I'm writing this now, he came out and is walking around a bit. When I touched him a little to take off a piece of something that stuck to his side, he RAN, so that's a "good" sign I guess? He still didn't bury, but did stick his head under a wet moss piece for a minute or two.

But now - should I put him back in his tank or should I let him stay with my big girlies and hope he won't stress too much? If he stays, when should I move him back to his place? Once the heatwave is over? Or should he just stay with them permanently? And what else should I do to help my pedes?? 😭🙏

Foods that dont spoil fast??

Hiii, so I'll most likely be gone for about 3 weeks in august and I can't really take the pedes with me - unless I should, but they would spend this time in a significantly smaller tank and I most likely would have to dig one of them up, soo yeah...

Before y'all come at me with torches and pitchforks, they have an automatic water spraying system, I do have a camera installed to monitor them and I'll have it placed where I can see the thermometer and hygrometer, + I'll be buying a smart plug and will be turning the fan on for them during the day, so I think they'll be just fine 🙂‍↕️ in case of emergency I can call the building administration and hope for their help

The only problem left is food. I don't want to leave them with just the stuff they have in their tank setup, because I know they LOVE their daily meals. I would leave them a shit ton of fruits and/or veggies, but I'm not sure about the safety of the mold that forms on it after a while (it's rlly dark and my desert pede doesn't even touch it anymore at that point). So - are there any foods I can leave them that won't come up with mold? I have some dried flowers and some supplementary powders (?) that I could generally sprinkle the tank with. On my instagram feed I often see beetles eating some fruit jellies?? sth like that. Would something of this sort be okay for the pedes??

are centipedes a good idea?

honestly, i've wanted a centipede since i was little and still often think about getting one. currently i have a few millipedes, since they're easier to take care of, and most importantly - safer. i recently talked to a guy who breeds centipedes and told him i was thinking about buying one - he told me it's a bad idea. he said that it will escape at any given chance, and with taking it out it's not "what are the chances it'll bite", but "it'll definitely bite". he told me he breeds them just cause he has them and they sell pretty well, but tries to avoid them as much as possible cause of aggression.

how does it look like in reality? is it really that bad? and are there generally less aggressive species? i can avoid taking it out, but don't want to end up like that guy and start hating it for it's nature or sth 😭

Hold is coming out of his shell ❤️‍🩹

This little guy was so shy and light-sensitive when I got him. Now for the first time ever I've seen him near the glass while the light was still on ❤️‍🩹 I know they don't feel the same way we do, but I'm still so sure it's thanks to Franio - his emotional-support-milli-boyfriend. Even now Hold is sitting in Franio's favorite area, it's only feeding my delusions 😭😭🙏

How do you cool down the tank?

My room is fucking cold in winter, but gets really hot in spring and I doubt it will be better in summer. Right now my tank thermometer almost constantly shows 25°C and I'm afraid it will negatively affect my millies long-term, especially when the temperature outside will be higher. My window is open 24/7, but it doesn't change much, especially since the tank is on the other side of the room where the air flow is not as good. I can't really move it since rn it's +/- 50-60 kg??, besides I don't want it to heat up even more in the sun.

For now I could try to place frozen water bottles on one side or get a fan or sth, but the problem is - I won't be home for +/- 3,5 weeks in august. I will be leaving my window open for that time, but I'm worried it won't be enough.

safe concern??

Hi, it's me again...🧐 should I be concerned about these white guys? The one on the left appears only in that one spot, at least near glass. These dots on the right are almost everywhere on the soil level around the whole tank. Is it safe for my guys?

Should I intervene?

I've recently added this hide to the tank (a few days maybe?). I've noticed mold almost immediately, but it was white and fluffy so I didn't think much of it. Now it's darker, and with black dots at the end of each little part. Did I keep it too humid for these "moldy days"? Should I take it out, clean it and try again later, or will it be fine? I'll leave the air flow higher overnight and check on it in the morning, but until then I'll gladly get some feedback 😭

Is he ok? :(

I haven't seen him since thursday evening and assumed he buried. Then I wasn't home friday-monday morning, and he still wasn't anywhere around. On monday evening I spotted him in this pine in this exact position. I assumed he was sleeping and left him alone. On tuesday evening I came back and he still was in the same position - I got worried, touched him a little and sprayed around him. He barely moved his legs in both these situations. As I am writing this, he uncurled himself and is moving around, but I'm still not sure about his well-being. He's usually energetic and always runs around the tank - I don't know if this sudden lethargy is a sign of something wrong going on or if I should just assume he got tired and leave him alone ☹️ what are the possible causes for this??
