Feeling really clueless about career and what some advice.

What advice do u have for someone like me who is feeling really clueless in college rn?

I recently started college at lady shri ram (lsr) in history hons. I have been a pretty good student throughout school but here in college first it's so hard to understand things. Where to study? What to study? Idk man i have never felt this confused in my life.

I don't even know what to do further. I have no interest in upse or government jobs. I quite wanted to study further in archeology but I don't think my parents would support my higher studies.

So there is the thing, i had to fight a lot to come to delhi. My hometown doesn't have any good colleges but my parents didn't want me to leave. After fighting like a crazy with my parents they let me come here but they have clearly mentioned that they wont support my further education and want me to get married right after graduation.

I know my choice of course is bonkers for someone in my situation but i was either just terrible in other streams or just lacked interest. And i knew to get out of home i had to score well so i took humanities. I did score well and i did get out of that hellhole but now what?

Recently i have been quite interested in learning video editing and lowkey marketing and social media stuff. But at the same time, I don't understand how to proceed. Where to start? What to follow? I kinda wish to maybe get more into marketing as a career. But I feel so clueless, i have never been this off track in my life. I just don't know how to proceed further.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Bank account linked to dad's number.

I (19) opened my bank account a few days back in axis bank because i would be leaving for college. And man, there was one thing i desperately wanted, it shouldn't be linked to my dad's number.

That's exactly what happened. ( If you wonder why i am so adamant about it, the family situation is wacky, parents are alright controlling and just terrible).

It happened because my adhaar card is linked to dad ( it still is) and i think they needed it for the whole kyc process, i asked the lady who was assisting me if I could keep another number. She said i can change it only after 6 months.

I came home only to figure out that the account is basically another plus one for my father.

I can't open the bank app on my phone, cant access upi on my phone, phonepe, nothing. Not a single otp to me.

It makes me so sad.😭😭. I wanted that account for myself so i could freelance but now i couldn't do it until i update the number which is another problem altogether. The lady at desk said it can only happen after 6 months, the bank app says after 60days??? Who is right??

Logically maybe i should have left the moment she said my number won't be linked but i knew my dad would scold me for it saying that i wasn't such a big deal if it was his number. Also that i am super new to this whole thing i was extremely nervous. This was in fact the first time i entered a bank. So even though I should have left i continued the whole thing.

It pisses me off so much if only i knew that it would be connected to his number. I would have changed it in my aadhar.

I will be moving to a whole new state, now i would have to run trips to atm there all the time until i change it.

I don't think there is much i could do about it. Just wanted to share.

If this is the wrong subreddit, please delete the post mods.

Really confused between lsr or miranda.

My score is 912(gen) and i want to opt for ba (hons) history.

I want to go for an all girls college only and that's why i have lsr/miranda on top but i really confused between which one.

-The cost factor is one thing given north campus will be cheaper. But i have such a strong bias towards lsr.

-Miranda has the pro of being in north campus and it also has hosted available ( still no guarantee if i can get in or not) plus it definitely has a stronger campus life. On the other lsr is quite isolated and the hostel scene is unsure(some senior say they might open it this year other say they won't) but the overall campus is so pretty.

-I also talked to a senior and they suggested that lsr has a better history department.

At the end, i am really really confused. So, if there are any senior who can guide me, please reach out.🙏🏻

Will Lsr open their hostel for this year?

Can any senior from lsr confirm??

I talked to a senior from lsr a month ago and they were saying that they might open it.

It's a little important for me to get a hostel within the campus. So 👉👈

My parents don't want me to go to du because i am a girl. Don't know how to convince.

Really unsure about my future. I don't really know how to begin but i come from a very conservative family. Also that my mom is extremely overprotective to the extent that it gets suffocating.

Since the start of april i have studied extremely hard for cuet but the thing is my mom and dad don't want me to go out of state, also that i come from bihar so there aren't any reputed colleges here either. I don't really talk with my father, but when it comes to my mom every single time I have tried to bring it up she shuts me down.

Man, all my life i have been a good student, i scored 93% in 10th ( would have scored higher but there was some checking issue and my mother didn't allow for rechecking), i took arts because i genuinely loved the subjects and scored 97% in 12th this year. I gave my last cuet exam on 29th may , and according to my estimate my score should be above 900. I really love history and i want to opt for ba(hons) in history though my parents want me to try for upsc however i know very well that if i fail in the 1st attempt i am getting married right after.🥀

I have studied mindlessly but i am not even sure how it will end. I feel like all my efforts are gonna be wasted. The thing is so far except my sister no one knows that i am trying for du. I haven't told it to either of my parents nor i have any backup colleges so far.

Ik that is extremely stupid of me but i have such a bad overthinking problem. Everytime me and mom had a conversation about going out of state and she straight up shut me off, i would constantly think about it my head and that always caused me to overthinking to the point i wouldn't be able to focus at all on studying nor i will be able to sleep because her words will constantly repeat in my head. Thats why i shut the fuck up for all the while given if i failed at getting a good college there will be no point of fighting.

I am finally planning about talking to my mom but really not sure how to begin or start the conversation. Honestly I feel so scared for some reason, almost like a coward.

If there is anyone who successfully convinced their parents or maybe had gone through the same situation please give some tips or even good lies, i am ready to do it all. 🫪

Can they ask questions from the extra portion that is given in the syllabus pdf which is released by cbse for political science?

Last year few seniors said that questions were asked from it as well.
