Will ectogenesis edits destroy abortion rights?

in debates about abortion rights, the subject of fetal transfer to an artificial womb often comes up. I’m curious to if you all think it will destroy abortion rights. If the right to abortion is about the embryo not using a woman’s body to survive, how would the right to terminate the existence of the embryo survive? do you think k it should?

Why do anti choicers not understand that their worldview eliminates the possibility that genetic motherhood can be chosen instead of forced?

We live in a world where no female of reproductive age is capable of 100% controlling whether she conceives or not. All co traceptives, including sterilization, have a failure rate. And all women are at risk of becoming pregnant from rape. these biological realities make it so giving rights to embryos strips women of ultimate control over the continuation of their genetic line. Without abortion as an available birth control to stop the progression of embryonic development, bio motherhood is imposed. For many women, abortion isn’t just about not gestating. it is about not producing a genetic child at all, even if they are not involved in its upbringing. When I point out these basic facts to anti choicers, they seem indifferent or try desperately to not face these facts. why? Are they just unaware of the real world consequences of their worldview or do they just not care?

Anti choicers “ see themselves” in embryos. It is absolutely critical that we understand this.

Read these common comments made by anti choicers. They all have something in common.

1.) Choose life, your mom did.

2.) I survived roe vs wade

3.) I didn’t deserve to die because my father is a rapist

4.) Aren’t you glad your mom didn’t abort you?

5.) as a former embryo, I oppose abortion

Do you all see the common thread of them all? In all of these remakes, first person language is used. Anti choicers are self identifying with embryos. When an embryo is destroyed, they think “ that could’ve been me.” They literally see abortion as a threat to their very possible existence. Psychologically, they cannot tolerate the idea of abortion because it creates an existential crisis for them in that “ they” might never have been born. This is the reason they are so hard to change and get through to. Us pro choicers can separate ourselves from psychologically from embryos and they can’t.

What is your opinion of the “ You think I should be dead” argument?

This is a common argument from prominent anti choice speakers such as Rebecca Kiessling, Melissa Ohden, Gianna Jenson, etc. These people were born after their birth mothers were unable to obtain the abortions they desired. Their entire argument now is that anyone that supports abortion rights is devaluing their lives and wishes that they were currently dead because the embryo was “ them.” What is your response?
