Reasonable Mechanic Price?

Reasonable Mechanic Price?

Just got a 2001 xlt V6 3.0 4x4 about 2 weeks ago.

The truck needed some work done so a friend of mine sent over one of their mechanics. He replaced the spark plugs, oxygen sensors, and the fuel filter. And he’s going to be back in a few days to check up on it again, as the check engine light still flashes when I hit 40mph.

He charged me $500. The truck does feel significantly better when driving but I don’t know too much about repair costs. I just wanted to make sure this is a fair price?

(I do plan on learning more DIY stuff as I go, but I am a complete newbie as of right now)

Is this really my cars payout worth?

I have a 2016 Dodge Dart SXT Sport Blacktop.
In April I got side swiped and there’s cosmetic damage from front bumper to back. The other driver was ruled at fault.

I took my car into the collision place where it was for about a week. Then I start getting calls from copart. I called the other drivers insurance (everything is going through them) and they told me my car was deemed a total loss.

I bought this car about 3 years ago for 10k. (Paid off recently) Its a Salvage title and since I’ve owned it there has been unrelated cosmetic damage to the front, right bumper. This cosmetic damage was quoted to $1.3k from the collision place as well.

His insurance only wanted to pay me out $4k and I can only get said payout once I have signed my car over to copart. I gave them receipts of work I had done on the car in the past few years and it went up to $4.5k. I was hoping to at least get $6k. They said the only way I can get a higher payout is if I find a car on the market with the same exact trim and it must be salvage title as well. But this has been hard to find. No luck. And they don’t accept KBB.

I asked his insurance to send over the 2 cars they are using as comparable value and for some reason she only sent over the receipt of my car from the collision place. I plan on asking her to send the comparable cars again tomorrow. I also called the collision place and they said the reason my car was deemed a total loss is because the repair cost went over $3k so the insurance made the call.

Is $4.5k really all I can get for my car? Or is there something else I can do? I appreciate any advice.
