I don't like how criticism of a certain religion is reflexively regarded as a -phobia

It isn't a race. It just isn't. It's practiced by people of literally every race.

Criticism of other religions, including certain other Abrahamic religions, doesn't make someone racist toward members of those religions at all. People who use the -phobia word would easily concede this. Yet when the world's fastest-growing (and most conservative) major religion is criticized instead, it becomes a sacred cow for people who fashion themselves as the least conservative people in the world (avowed atheists, even), and they'll use the -phobia word as a cudgel to prevent you from criticizing it. Bizarre stuff.

I just don't think it's beyond the pale to take someone's holy book at face value, regardless of what it is. Of course there are people who will twist it into something more liberal—people are people—but the book needs to be acknowledged as the book that it is.

That glib statement from Granta on the AI scandal was written by a literal billionaire

Wondering why Granta's response to the AI scandal was so weirdly glib and careless, as if they didn't need to worry about mass unsubscribes from readers? The statement's author, Swedish packaging heiress Sigrid Rausing, owns the magazine and makes unilateral decisions on how it is run. Since Granta is her personal plaything, she doesn't have any stake in the dignity of literary culture. Conceding that AI was used would be a blow to her ego and she seemingly doesn't have any incentive to care about whether AI was actually used

12% of people who take the LSAT have accommodations, and they make up 30% of the 170+ scorers

Yet when you bring up accommodations abuse on the relevant subreddits, you'll have folks accusing you left and right of "ableism" in cutesy all-lowercase text and dressed-up Reddit avatars.

Yes, you were diagnosed with ADHD late in life and the diagnosis is valid even though all your teachers and both of your parents never flagged anything when you were a kid. Riiight.

There needs to be a policy response to shrinks handing out these diagnoses like candy. At the very least, the LSAC should have stricter standards for accommodations eligibility (unfortunately probably legally impossible right now).

So just to be clear about GULC...

...they don't let an applicant's waitlisted status just expire, and instead actively reject applicants who they are no longer considering?

I didn't know about this. I am still on the waitlist.

Briahna Joy Gray and Nathan B. Robinson types accuse Democrats of being controlled opposition, but I actually think *they're* the controlled opposition

Specifically within the context of the left, I mean. Hear me out.

If everything went Briahna Joy Gray's way or Nathan J. Robinson's way, Bernie Sanders would've been a widely disliked Jimmy Carter-esque president with almost zero accomplishments to his name. He had a very undistinguished Senate record with very few legislative achievements, and I see nothing in his background that suggests he would've ushered in a new Great Society within eight years. Thank God Zohran Mamdani is being pragmatic to a degree Gray and Robinson would find unacceptable, shaking hands with Kathy Hochul and subtly pushing her to the left. Lyndon B. Johnson-esque realpolitik (as opposed to masturbatory purity-testing and playing to the DSA crowd) is the only way left-wing policy can be achieved in the US.

I feel like Gray/Robinson-type leftists are actually committed to sabotaging the coalitions needed to deliver economic populism. Their crabs-in-a-bucket mentality is downright poisonous.

On the GRE, I got a 170 on verbal and a 160 on quant, with a total of 330. On the ACT, I got a 36 on English, a 31 on math, a 34 on reading, and a 35 on science, with an average of 34. Is this considered a "spiky" profile?
