Calling out without a one hour notice?

So I called out sick today. Bad diarrhea since last night. Was planning to go to work a lil bit late but it happens again so I decided to call off all together. My manager is chewing me out over texts because I was supposed to give a one hour notice. I’ve been here under a year, and this is my first time calling out. I don’t know about these policies. Am I in trouble?

Anybody just really burned out?

I’m just physically and mentally exhausted. I work 30 hrs per week , 8 hours shifts. I pretty much run the front by myself with little help. I ring people up, does returns, answers the phone, does pick ups and answers any question people in the store may have. Today I ringed up over 100+ people. And my store has more Amazon return customers than Staples so you do the math. I really want to leave but can’t there are barely any new job postings in my area, not to mention the hours and schedules are not guaranteed. I just feel so stuck.

When did you hear back after an interview?

So I had a group interview two days ago. It was 20+ people just in the first cohort. The DM conducted it and we were asked 4 questions. Your name, tell us about yourself, work history and availability. I just told him I had a year of experience with retail, very used to working in fast paced, high pressure environments and that I have open availability. To be frank, I don’t think I’ll be getting the job because literally everyone in my group had the same open availability. He said we would know of a decision same day at 8pm. Two days pass and nothing? Do they ghost if you’re rejected or at least TELL YOU that you you’re rejected?
