Huge Digitizing and Archival Project

I am planning a large scale project to digitize my collection of thousands of letters, diaries, and newspapers. I have some letters scanned but not many. I started a discord if anyone is interested in checking how it’s going or for anyone who would like to offer their assistance and/or knowledge.

I’m starting the scanning process and as I get further along I would like to start a website where people can read the letters typed while also seeing the scans of the actual letters. Eventually I would love to be able to share some of my favorites with people in person by having educational displays in museums, schools, and other public events.

I haven’t had a discord in so long I can hardly remember how to set it up but if anyone is interested in joining, here is the link.

Even if you aren’t interested in the project it could still be interesting to talk, share our finds, and even set up trades.

Jacqueline Kennedy’s secretary response to a letter requesting an autograph

Came with a facsimile autograph card.

I received a binder inside of a large box of various ephemera and it’s got a few letters from the Kennedys (JFK, Jacqueline’s secretary) plus a few thank you cards from Lyndon B Johnson and Lady Bird Johnson. Pretty interesting read. The box also contained a ton of letters from various political figures, astronauts, and celebrities. Plus probably over 100 autograph cards which I have no idea if any are real but still pretty cool to look through. This guy definitely enjoy sitting around and writing letters to public figures. I love reading it all! Times were so different before Twitter.
