2007 xc90 as a project car

2007 xc90 as a project car

Hi everyone!
I’ve been thinking about getting a project car since i have more free time now and haven’t really worked on one for a while.

Anyway, I found this 2007 xc90, owner is asking $2,700 USD. Here’s what I know about the it after calling the owner:

- All paperwork is up to date
- Car has been garaged its whole life.
- Has just over 100k miles
- Exterior has no dings or scratches
- Interior needs some work (dog bites, kids spilling drinks, etc. )
- Transmission is the main pain point, it jerks after it’s up to temp. Works fine right after a cold start.
- A mechanic looked at it and said it needed new solenoids
- Owner mentioned it’s been parked for a while and sat unused for about a year (2024) before he drove it again (2025) and started noticing issues (End of 2025).
- V8 Engine

I’ve never had a Volvo before so this will be completely new to me, but I’m not afraid of getting a wrench and start tearing stuff apart.
My only concern is, with the car sitting for so long, it can have other issues but I don’t know how sensitive Volvo’s fluids, gaskets, etc. are in these scenarios.

As for the issue he mentioned, I’m pretty sure if it was just the solenoids he would’ve fixed them already so I’m guessing it’s something else like a valve cover or a completely shot transmission.

So my main question is, how likely is it to be a major repair where parts would cost more than the car?

Edit: added the engine

Questions on adopting and buying Frenchie

Hi everyone,
A coworker’s frenchie just had a litter, he’s not a breeder, he just wanted his female frenchie to have puppies before spaying her. So he’s only asking to cover the vet, shots and other miscellaneous costs, which totals to around $250 when converted to USD.

The pup is a 6 week old grey (lilac?) frenchie and she will be out for adoption in about 2 weeks. I’m not too concerned about this one as I’m adopting her, I’m just concerned about her nose and want to make sure if it’s normal or if I should keep an eye on her as she grows up.

What I am concerned about is, I thought about getting her a partner and saw a Merle (last picture) from what people say is a reputable breeder in a city nearby.
However, reading other posts and google, Merle’s are not considered purebred and it looks like they are very prone to having health issues.

She offered an AKC registration, but from what I read on Google, the AKC doesn’t recognize Merle as a frenchie color either but Frenchbulldog.org does list it as a valid color.

I’m new to Frenchies and the whole “this is legit, this is not” has been very confusing, so I’m looking for some advice on what to be aware of, specially because most if not all “reputable breeders” in Mexico offer Merle, Isabella, fluffy and other variants that are associated with unethical breeding.
