Of course, if it's a statement of fact then the answer to the question is "What?". The question/statement reading "What is the third word?" or "The third word is 'What'".

Whereas some might point to 'third' being the third word as it appears as the third word in the question/statement/what am I reading here?

Others, who'd broken down as far as 'What is the third word", will declare that 'the' is actually the answer and that everyone should just consider relaxing a little before we continue.

So with that settled 😕 the answer to the question, which was actually an answer all the time, is 'What's the third word'.
